I decided to do some quick analysis to get an idea how USCIS processes forms for the different visa types...this shows how many new forms of each type were submitted and how many of each type were approved per month, thus showing whether they are moving ahead or building up a backlog of each type. I just compiled this from VJ searches.

For whatever reason it looks like they favor processing of K1 and IR-1/CR-1 over K3 even though the K3 backlog keeps growing bigger and bigger. Also I should point out that for the last few months, the data is probably a little bit skewed and the actual situation is worse than it appears. Reason being: I'm assuming that most people don't find VisaJourney and enter their timelines for a few months, thus the number of new forms of each type is probably quite a bit lower than it will be say 6 months from now.

Anyway, I don't know how useful this is or not, but it makes me wish we had just gone for a CR-1 or K1 visa.

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

Another thing you don't know either is how many people go through the visa process without ever knowing about Visajourney or may just utilize the services of a attorney. It's unfortunate that the K3's seem to be the last to be looked at.
