So do you suggest filing tourist visa to established the in person criteria of the K1 visa?

I suggest meeting in person. I cannot follow your tourist visa plan.

The only reason my man would apply for the tourist visa would be to meet me in person since I can't lfly and there are no other way to get to his country to meet him.  He will have to come to me.

He should apply for a tourist visa.

Invitation letters for U.S. tourist visas are not a thing, and they can even assure denial.

If he cannot get a tourist visa, then given your constraints, he will not get a K-1 or CR-1.

1st a letter of invitation from u for him to get a tourist visa would hurt his chances to get the visa

2nd he needs to satisfy the CO at interview that he will return to Sierra Leone

helps to show he owns property

    has a job

has money to afford the trip

he would have to be honest when the CO asks Why he wants to visit  and when he says to visit my gf , he will more than likely "be denied"

So we should just apply for the k1 visa and close our eyes with fingers crossed???????   This means what?

You have to meet in person to apply

HIm coming here on tourist visa would look like he is coming to marry here and adjust his status and that is fraud to plan so it does not help your cause

u need to get the medicine u need to go to Africa and have it in prescription bottles in baggies for the trip

The invitation letter was something the embassy requested.  I am not going to write something that is unnecessary.

So they are denying people because of a medical condition?  I am not terminally ill  and have a career.

how long have you been in a relationship?

You may request a waiver of this in-person meeting requirement if you can show that meeting in person would:

  • Violate strict and long-established customs of your fiancé(e)’s foreign culture or social practice; or
  • Result in extreme hardship to you, the U.S. citizen petitioner.

Yes, USCIS does check social media accounts. Also in your proof of relationship, any term of endearment that reflects being married is a denial.

K-1s are denied to people who do not meet in the prior two years. The medical condition of the petitioner is not a factor

We will not get marry until we have a fiance visa.  As I stated in my post we are doing the right thing and since we have not met in person....the only option at this point is for HIM to come over since I CAN NOT FLY OVER THERE.

We have explained in the letter the intent of the visit and we also stated we are not in any way want to do anything that is illegal.  I have included in the letter to the embassy my medical condition ans verificarion letters.

Your significant other will have to apply for a tourist visa on his own merits.  It could be a challenge unless he has strong ties to his country (property owned, long-term job, other ties).  Chances are low in my opinion, because going to the US to visit a girlfriend is a strong tie to the US and could be viewed as a potential problem, risk of overstay and adjusting status.  But it will ultimately be up to the consular officer.  You could also try a K-1 with a request to waive the in-person meeting requirement, based on your medical condition, but those waivers are very rarely approved.  I agree with others, he should first try for a tourist visa on his own merits.  If that is denied, try for the K-1 waiver of meeting in person.  If that doesn't work, you'll have no choice but to wait until your medical condition improves so that you can go and meet him in his home country or a third country.

He will still need a visa to come to Mexico.  He will be in the same position either way.
