I do think a new one should be started in the winter, as we're going stir crazy!

What a great thread!

There's a lot of free or cheap stuff to do around here. We're quite broke too (well, it's more of a permanent state rather than the consecquences of AOS ), so here's some activities that we do together without spending too much money:

- Netflix movies

- Taking walks on the trails in the area (this should eventually turn into biking and maybe even mountain biking, but not for a while)

- Public library

- Board games - our favorite one is Scrabble

We live close to the Stanford theater and movie theater, and they have specials sometimes - old movies free of charge, etc. Also, the state park of the neighbouring town has free Shakespeare plays in July and August. These were on my to-do list for the summer, but because of my sucky schedule, we couldn't go (I work in the evenings and all these plays are on weekdays ). Well, maybe next year.

A lot of museums in our area have free admission days, so do museums in San Fran, which is well within reach. There are so many things to do around here, I don't think we've explored 1% of them!

Check with your local Library...

Here in Portland.. the local Libraries have a cultural pass. which you check out. This pass give entrance to many of the cultural things in the city ..

Many of these places would cost aprox $10 for two adults to attend.. so a pass is wonderful
