Yeah I'm guessing it's Baltimore, and they are supposedly slow. Biometrics always make us go to Delaware though.

Remind him to answer the civics questions using the exact words from the official USCIS test guide.  Do NOT paraphrase.  There's a recent report of another LPR from the UK who failed the civics test for paraphrasing the answers.

Thought of something this weekend and am now a little concerned:

 

5 years of tax transcripts. Well, the IRS doesn't hand out that many and unfortunately we're missing 2018. I put in a request but I don't think they will give me anything. I can get everything else from 2018 and of course I can upload our entire copy of taxes from 2018 but that will be a lot for the IO to sort through wouldn't it? Should we attach a letter explaining and then upload the whole copy? Kicking myself as we have older transcripts from before that year, but are just missing 2018.

I would upload the 2018 tax return package.  I don't think there is a reason to explain it.  Good luck.  Then end of the journey is near.

Note that it's the p80 (80% of cases get decided within this time). For the Chicago office it currently says 10mo but our interviews are scheduled for < 4 months since submission. and IIRC that estimator showed a way higher number back in March (maybe 14 months?), then our individual estimates on our dashboard also swung wildly (at some point it showed 16+ months, then it dropped to 9 months).

So... if your husband's case is not that complicated, you can probably beat the estimate. For peace of mind I just have a calendar reminder to check the status weekly (so we don't miss anything) and otherwise try to not think about it.

Oh, and you can see copies of everything they send you in the document tab of your USCIS dashboard, in case they lose it in the mail. Still waiting for our interview notices after 12 days

As with anything else from USCIS, YMMV.  I think when my wife naturalized, the Detroit office was something like 12 months, and she had her interview in around 4.
