did you use the account transcripts or return transcripts? Account is the one with 1-2 page summary, while the return transcript is every line item from the return.

I forgot to mention that we also included the usual miscellaneous items like copies of driver's licenses and W-2's from work that show us both living (headquartered?) at the same address. A nicely written cover letter was included as well.

Return transcripts and a copy of the front and back of the 1040 for that year.

In my opinion completely not necessary. Our I-751 submission was this month (May 2023) and was less than 100 pages. The 48-month extension and waived biometrics letters were received less than two weeks later.

The 48 month extension letter and the biometrics are just automatically sent

This is what I intend to do. 2-4 statements from each year. I don’t think printing all months since married makes any difference from printing quarterly statements.

You have good, quality evidence and diverse enough that quarterly statements should be sufficient.

Even before sending the 751 to Phoenix I wondered if that might be the case. But is this an educated guess on your part or do you know this for certain.

I know it for certain after being in this forum for 4+ years. They haven’t even touched your case yet. It doesn’t mean that they’re satisfied with what you’ve sent

that is it. June 2, 2023 - I mailed our application to USCIS. It should get there next week. I suppose this means see you in 3 years or so..............

I just sent my application! The evidence I provided is simple and straightforward...house deed, title insurance, car insurance, health insurance, joint tax return transcripts, a few joint bank account statements and some photos. I'm hoping that it will be enough.

Did you include an explanation regarding how your finances are handled? 

 

Not trying to be a Debbie downer and you may be completely fine, but quite a lot of the RFEs we see are related to lack of financial comingling. I personally would not have been comfortable sending 3 credit card statements total (and none from 2023), without any further explanation or documentation of household finances. Affidavits are also fairly weak secondary evidence. 

 

The reviewing officer may wonder, based on what you have listed, how marital bills are paid, whose name the bills are under, whether either of you are beneficiaries of the other's accounts (retirement or otherwise), what the living situation actually is (because one 6 month lease and a copy of a homeowner's insurance policy does not paint a clear picture), etc.

I think there are plenty of us out there who do not have joint accounts. Contrary to the poster above, I did not even bother with a cover letter, let alone any explanation.

Yes, that is common and I didn't say that you have to have joint accounts. It is not required. But it is good to create a clear picture of how finances are handled, with at least an explanation (at the minimum). This is the prevailing advice on VJ, from users who have "been there and done that" (not just me). 

 

Considering how ridiculous the ROC process can be with waiting times of 2+ years, I wouldn't play fast and loose with the evidence. YMMV. 

 

There are a ton of threads here on VJ where RFEs were received due to insufficient financial evidence. Some common themes in these RFE threads are 1) not sending any bank statements at all, 2) provided bank statements but leaving out pages, 3) sending evidence that is sporadic or that does not cover the entirety of the marriage, and 4) not including any kind of explanation for their specific/unique situation.

Thanks @beloved_dingo for compiling all those threads about people getting RFEs for not sending all pages of their bank statements. That's exactly  the reason I set aside time every month to download and organize our bank and investment statements for ROC.

I am preparing the documents now, but I was seeing all the 500+ page evidence examples across these forums. Makes me wonder if that is necessary. Worst case scenario you get an RFE?

It's really a personal choice how much information you want to send in. People want to AVOID a RFE. People have submitted small amounts of evidences  and been approved just fine; on the other hand, people have submitted 500+ pages of evidences and have also been approved just fine (we were one of those that sent in the kitchen sink). It just depends on what you want to send in and your personal choices. You'll want to give yourself every chance at success the first time without a RFE!
