$100 was on the Pup, including a mat she is currently ignoring.

There was something else on EVs I was listening to a Lady on MW whilst driving who I used to listen to years ago, definitely MAGA, and she mentioned something I had forgot and have now forgotten again. I do not get MW up here.

 

Now I would be happy with an EV in the right conditions.

Ahh, no emissions of microplastics from those "green" machines.-  What is interesting is one of the biggest selling points of EV's is instant torque, and they are fun to drive, but if you really want to save your tires, you probably don't want to use that feature.

Already, $600 million has been doled out to pay for 1,093 chargers and EV education and marketing programs.

The emphasis at the meeting was getting chargers deployed, reducing long waiting times at charging stations as EV sales grow. However, it was acknowledged, nonworking chargers are partly responsible for waiting times that can stretch into hours.

Hetz as we know are selling their EV cars and I just looked to see what they were going for,

 

Model 3 for 25k ish with 25k ish miles, battery should be good for 200k miles.

 

I have been looking at PV systems and OK not quite directly comparable but the prices I am seeing start at 30c a watt. A basic Tesla battery would be big enough to back up at least 2 houses, made me wonder of they will become a time when they are stripped for their batteries?

Not just the batteries, but the copper used in all the internal bussing.

Rivian has announced 3 new models, now I know 2 people who have them one of them is the Pup's Vet. And obviously where I am it gets cold.

 

I think this is make or break, they have been losing a lot of cash, the term I was thinking of is not VJ friendly.

 

Now Tesla lost a lot but then U turned, are they the exception or will others be able to follow.

 

I think they are losing 30k on every vehicle? My concern is not that they are not any good but if the Company will be around.

What???!!???   How can they ever U turn from that kind of loss? 

On another subject, with a gas-powered vehicle you can usually expect to, hopefully, get a piece of your cost back when you trade-in a few year down the road.  Can you imagine the trade-in value of an EV which is close to battery change time?  You might have to pay the dealer to take your trade-in.

I forget where I saw it now, a graph with the EV only manufacturers showing cumulative losses from a common start date, they all showed a sort of similar nose dive but Tesla having been in the game the second longest had a big correction, now this was when they could charge premium prices and had most of the market, the likes of Rivian are playing in different times.

 

I mentioned the Prius where you can get reconditioned batteries for not a lot but those batteries are relatively tiny. It is of course possible that replacement batteries will be much cheaper and much better in 15 years, but nobody knows.

Tesla has or had the ability to sell regulatory credits which gave them a lot of flexibility with price.
