Has anyone here tried vacationing abroad with an African spouse who has a green card? I want to know if a green card makes it easier for Africans to get tourist visas in places like Europe.

Visa applications are made using the applicants passport .. green cards  means nothing to countries other than the US

This is a serious question, and I need to hear from people who actually know the answers. A green card holder can travel to a number of countries with no visa. Canada is just one example. Obviously, then, a green card matters in some countries, so it's reasonable to ask whether it makes the process easier in others.

Yes, having a green card, living in the USA with a job, gives you upper hand in having green card for Europe easy peasy. America is considered the greatest country in the world and once you have a green card, are living here, have a decent income, then you got your visa. Is Europe not EU? You get visa for one country, you get for "all".

Yes

Are you serious?

It is easier - for example you can transit through the UK without having to apply for a transit visa.

But, you should research which country is easiest to get a Schengen through (if planning on traveling to Europe).

Some countries are still fairly strict about the time allowed in the region whilst others will give a longer stay.

Which part answers their question?

All it says is who does and doesn't have to apply for a Schengen visa and how to apply. I think the OP is already aware of both of those things.

I appreciate the effort, but I wanted to hear from people who have actually taken AFRICAN US residents to, well, anywhere other than visa-free destinations. The visa-free places are generally not great, and no one wants to spend a lot of money visiting a country that doesn't have much to offer.

We have been on four trips already, and we have also been rejected several times, wasting a tremendous amount of time in the process. What nations say on websites may look good, but when you apply, you may get very rude surprises. Italy, for example, flat-out lied to us. We made it to Turkey once using an e-visa, but they gave my wife the runaround when she arrived, and afterward, they changed the e-visa website so she can't go again without embassy approval.

You can't just play this game over and over blindly, because every failed attempt costs you about a month. This is why I want to know if things will improve when the green card arrives.
