Just curious about any conditions that AOS can be approved w/out interview?

I m filing AOS from F-1 student and still waiting for the approval.

An IO at our infopass said that they are sending K-1 AOS's to CSC without an interview because they just recently were interviewed in their home country. This was the IO that was able to verify to my IO that there are AOS's being sent to CSC and being approved without an interview (she laughed when I said that cases were being approved without an interview). I could swear that there are other cases besides K-1's being sent to CSC without interviews, right? I think they make up stuff as they go.

Shame the IO didnt mention K-3's :( or dont they think K-3's got interviewd in their home country recently

Interesting. As for as made up reasoning goes, this one isn't too bad. It has some decent logic and rational to it. Regardless of other applicants, for the K-1 AOS filers who do get transferred, this rational makes sense. Now the question would be, for the K-1 AOS filers who didn't make the cut, what's different in their specific cases?

Hmmm. Sounds logical, in theory. But then everyone gets interviewed before they receive their visa so there are other dynamics going on. Wonder what their definition of "recently" is? My I-485 application was transferred almost an entire year after my interview. Guess that's recent enough for them. ^_^

Good question. i got interviewed for AOS 4.5 months after applying for it, 7 months after my visa interview -- dang quick. Guess not "recently" enough to get away with not going for the interview. Then again, this was 2 years ago.

I think it's more than that tho...we got very lucky with ours I know. But other K1s - going thru Cincinnati at the same time as me, got interviewed! Makes NO SENSE!

aye, I agree. My experience flies in the face of "you recently went through your visa interview = not needing an AOS interview" line of reasoning. Methinks it's random and not really predictable at all.

There's no rhyme or reasoning as to who gets an interview and who doesnt....luck of the draw i guess.....maybe they just give each application a number, put pieces of paper with the numbers into a hat and just pull numbers outta the hat and whatever numbers they pull outta the hat....voila!! doesnt need an interview...and all those poor sods left in the bottom of the hat...get the interviews!!

Just hazarding a guess here....who knows maybe thats their system

I also think that many people who come in on a K1 don't have an interview because they had one prior to arrival. The IO here said that there are couples who receive a waiver and are then transferred to CSC and approved with no interview. I hope that is our case :innocent: .
