Hello,

We filed for CR1 and have been in Administrative Processing since our interview in December. I (petitioner) received an unplanned phone call this morning from an officer at the embassy asking a few questions (none of which were very invasive or about our relationship aside from when we met/married). We are going through Cairo, Egypt. Has anyone else experienced this?

It’s rare but I have seen/read some instances here but as I said it’s very rare. I have also read posts where the consulate asked the petitioner to fly in for a second interview at the consulate (also very rare).

Consulates can also show up unannounced at beneficiary’s home, there was a thread on it 2 years ago.

The good news is that your file is not just sitting in a pile. I'm not sure how to interpret the unusual phone call.

Certainly not typical for low-fraud, low-risk consulates.  Not surprising for Egypt/MENA.
