Is there a difference between the type of green cards issued to immediate relatives of US citizens as opposed to immediate family of permanent residents?

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if the conditional 2 year green card is still being issued?

I think I read some where that the conditional type green card was being phased out.

If the marriage is under 2 years old at the time of GC approval, or US entrance on an immigration visa such as an F2A or IR1, then the immigrant will be issued a conditional GC which overall is the same as a 10 yr GC, but will require the filing of an I751 in 2 years less 90 days.  I have not heard any news about eliminating the conditional CG.

No difference in the actual green card, but the processing queues are very different as FP green cards (petitioners are LPR's) are subject to availability while CR/IR green cards (petitioners are citizens) are immediately available.

 Where did you see that?   Although I agree that it should be eliminated, it is NOT being phased out.  

Fun Fact:  Less than 1% of I-751s are actually denied.

Although the visa numbers for immediate relatives of US Citizens (Spouses, parents and minor children of US Citizens) are always current (because there no numerical limitation or cap) the actual process takes about two years for most applicants!
