Hi everyone

I have tried to explained for my parents in my homecountry what the procedure is to be with my love and all the things that we have to go through.

It's very hard for them to understand that it is so difficult to even be together.

In my case it was more difficult since I had a decade old conviction.

But can any give me a list of what is the procedure of the beginning from apply for a K-1 visa to be a us-citizen and to the end of the difficult journey.

Then I guess I would solve some questions from my famely who think that it is just about moving to usa.

It's just to calm down my parents and friends that don't believe how hard it is.

Well, after the K-1 (that you already know) and the AOS (which you already have pending), as long as you are both in the US for the next 3 years and still married, you would submit an N-400. After this is approved, you take and oath and are a citizen.

The lifting conditions after your AOS does not need to be complete before you file the N-400. It most likely will be though.

Actually, the hard part is entirely over (once you have the AOS approved).

But can any give me a list of what is the procedure of the beginning from apply for a K-1 visa to be a us-citizen and to the end of the difficult journey.

Most of it's pretty clear in the K1 guide and flow chart as well as here:http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html

Two part process -- first the USC has to petition for the foreign fiance. (They have to prove that are indeed a USC, and that the couple has met in the prior two years). Approved petitions are nothing more than approval to have a consular interview. Once at the interview stage, USCs have to prove that they can support their foreign fiance (since they won't be able to work immediately). Often additional relationship evidence is necessary at the interview. If the foreign fiance has no visa ineligiblities and has passed the medical exam (the US doesn't allow any communicable diseases into the country) they visa is approved. Once in the US, they have to marry within 90 days and begin the process of changing the fiance's status from that of a person who entred on a Fiance Visa to that of a spouse of a USC. The fiance has to prove that they have met the vaccination requirements and can apply for work authorization, Social Security number, advance parole, etc. if they choose to. The green card is conditional and two years down the road the couple has to apply to "lift those conditions". After three years, the spouse is eligible to begin the US citizenship process if they choose.

If the fiance has visa ineligibilities i.e. overstay, illegal presence, criminal history, etc. they have to go through the waiver process and be approved before a visa can be issued.

That pretty muchs sums it up.

You are such a sweetheart Kitkat. Thank you. Now I only have to translate this to danish LOL

Will take me a little while I guess. But a great challenge on my English

Nobody knows even my friends or famely in Denmark how hard it is. They do still think I am crazy. But I decided to go my own ways and didn't listen to them. Now they have a hard problem to know that now I am here and my show should be over. They don't believe that it actually just started

[They do believe now that I must be a usa citizen

Anette, it seems most of the world believes that when someone marries a US Citizen, they automatically become a US Citizen. Most people also believe that as long as someone is going to marry a USC, nothing else matters i.e. criminal background, etc.

You can just explain that the US has intense processes and procedures in place for obtaining visas and citizenship. People have to qualify for things and prove things that no one ever thinks of i.e. medical exam.

I bet if you search around a bit in Danish, you'll find some sites that explain the basics -- that may be easier than translating.

Best of all, you were approved and aside from waiting for AOS to be complete, you have nothing more to worry about!!! :luv:

Kitkat I am so happy to again have your response.

Yes I am so almost certain what to do in my case.

But sometimes very hard to explain to famely that their daughter is in a kind of being in limbo.

I guess that finally they believe what I am talking about. I am 48 years old and should make them believe that I know what I am doing. But sometimes I guess that they can't understand my situation.

They know ofcause my husband but still can't believe that we gotta have such a hard time to even in first place being together.

I guess there are a ton of people here that might have the same difficulty to explain for their homecountry famely what's going on.

this is something that was on vj at one point, not sure where it is now and i'm about 24 hours behind on my reading. so i'll upload the screenshots of it - i screenshot it for reference.

this won't remain here for very long as i clean up my attachments every week or two, so if you want to save them do so.
