Hello everyone! My fiance and I have our visa interview on August 21st. My question is about the supporting documents for the I-134:

If I have a copy of my 1040, W-2s, and a signed letter from my employer indicating annual salary and benefits, do I have enough supporting documents?

I'm mainly wondering if I need to order a *transcript* of my taxes for the past year as well; I know the bank letter is not necessary because I am not using assets to qualify.

Feb 21, 2007: Mailed I-129F via USPS Priority Mail.

Feb 24, 2007: I-129F arrived at VSC at 3:01 p.m.

Feb 27, 2007: NOA1

Feb 28, 2007: They cashed my check.

Mar 2, 2007: Touched! I'm guessing this was my check clearing :)

Mar 5, 2007: NOA1 arrived via snail mail.

Mar 15, 2007: NOA2!!!!!!

Mar 21, 2007: Petition sent to Bogota

May: We send Packet 3 by fax; fax never received.

June: We send packet 3 again; it's sent back because my fiance didn't write NONE and N/A.

July: We send packet 3 again . . .

July 23rd: We get an email from the embassy. Our interview is August 21st!!!

Only person who can say it is enough is the consulate officer. Tax transcripts will further validate the information on the tax return or in some consulates, will be allowed to stand alone.

YMMV

You should order the tax transcripts, it should take 2-3 weeks to arrive. If it doesn't arrive in time for the interview, then use a copy of your latest tax return.

My question is what do you mean you are not using assets to qualify? On the I-134, it asks for two out of 4 evidences of support and one is a bank statement. Although I'm out of the Nigerian office, I've read other boards and I've seen most consulates ask for at least three of the four items, including the bank letter or bank statements. If you know something new, let me in on the secret. I wish you success on your journey.

No secret other than it is a consulate specific item... In Kyiv the only requirement was to prove income level. If you exceeded the threshold, then no assets needed to be disclosed.

Each embassy in different countries sets their own requirements. Try to find the website for your embassy. there should be something noted there. In Moscow, the I-134 isn't mandatory but may be requested by the officer. That's just an example. Not sure what Bogota requires as supporting evidence. I'd send everything possible to your SO just in case.

Thanks for the replies! NigerianLove, no secret; simply the information I've gleaned from reading the ColombiaClub thread, as my fiance is from Colombia. There, it seems that unless you're using assets such as investments or a savings account to prove you're above the poverty line, you don't need the bank letter.

W2 validates your 1040. I see no reason for transcripts if you have your . On the I864 form for AOS is says a transcript or 1040 with W2

So, because I already have the copies of 1040 and W2. Actually the transcriots are not necessary, right?

got visa

Posted

1. Tax returns for one year is what they want, but if you have copies for 3 yrs, great.

2. W2s for all 3 yrs if you have

3. Bank Letter is required regardless of the income

4. Employer letter is required as well.

Tax transcript request form is available at the following link, just download it and request it, if you don;t use it for the VISA, you can use it for AOS.
