Does anyone know whether one can still receive a stamp on their card for work authorization from the local office (i have been approved and have been waiting for over a week and a half since card production). I'm in a situation where I'll lose my job offer if I don't receive the card in the next 2 days.

Nope this practice has been discontinued.

Just show the email or letter to the employer, they should understand that the card is on it's way.

I spoke to someone at the USCIS customer service and they said it was possible to get a stamp that allows you to work at the InfoPass appointment if it is urgent and your card has already been put to production. Has anyone heard of this and have any advice for asking them to do it?

Thanks

i found this on a different thread (which no one has responded to), does that mean that customer service provided inaccurate information? It wouldn't be a first as they told me that I could receive the interim ead even on the day of my infopass appointment, during which IOs already told me that they stopped. In fact, the IO officer told me that customer service is filled with contract workers who are not IOs and often provide inaccurate information, such that IOs are requesting that they be eliminated. How do you know they no longer provide the stamp?

PS: In post #1, I stated stamp on card, I meant stamp on passport.

There was a USCIS memo last year (September I think) + the anecdotal evidence from member posts here since that time who tried and were denied. I'd google and look for it, but I'll leave that to you.

You might try an info-pass appointment, though you may not get an appointment in the immediate 2 days. Best to give it a try, worse they can say is NO.

Interim Employment Authorization Cards

Local Offices will no longer accept and adjudicate Form I-765. The Service Centers or the National Benefit Center will be responsible for adjudicating any pending Form I-765 and issuing interim or non-interim documentation.

If USCIS does not approve or deny your Form I-765, Employment Authorization Document (EAD) application within 90 days, or within 30 days for an asylum applicant, you may request an Interim EAD (Note: Asylum applicants are only eligible to file for EADs after waiting 150 days from the date of properly filing their original completed asylum applications). To request an Interim EAD, you must schedule an appointment via INFOPASS to go to your local USCIS office. You must bring, to the office, proof of your identity and any documents that USCIS has sent to you regarding your Employment Authorization application.

Even though you must make the request at the Field office, the issuance of any EAD, interim or non-interim, will not be done at that office. The Field Office personnel will inform you of the next steps that may be required once you make your request.

https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...or.statecode=TX

You can still request an interim EAD after 90 days using INFOPASS, but the local office will no longer stamp your passport and the interim EAD will not be issued at the field office.

I assume the poster who you quoted was referring to the I-551 stamp, which you can only get after your Green Card is approved.

Forum tourettes, or are you attempting to say something here?

The post that greenslippers just quoted from Nicodemus was talking about the I-551 stamp I believe (that's the only kind of stamp you can get at Infopass that allows you to work). There is no such thing as an "EAD stamp" (unless you're talking about the K-1 POE thing).

I actually was talking about a stamp for a temporary "EAD". Additionally, my employer has said that although rare, she has heard of people getting letters that date when the EAD would be valid and that would be sufficient to work. I just don't know if i"m reaching for stuff that just isn't there....

If someone told you you could get one of those they were misinformed I'm afraid. The misinformation hotline strikes again.

I assumed you were talking about I-551 because I didn't think anyone would be stupid enough at the hotline to make up something that doesn't exist (an EAD stamp at Infopass). I guess I was wrong.

I-551 is the green card, so they only give out the I-551 stamp after Green Card approval. They give this stamp out sometimes if you're approved at interview, and sometimes if you need to travel and your Green Card hasn't arrived yet.

For EAD you have to wait for the card to arrive, there is no "stamp" you can get while waiting.
