Hee hee. Apparently not restricted to Scotsmen :-)

Maybe it should have been voiced as looking for a penpal or something similar, rather than a husband. Friendship has to come first. After all, in a normal relationship (i.e not long distance) if things lead to marriage then they lead to marriage but you shouldn't start out with that particular thought in mind.

However, I also think that long distance relationships only end 2 ways... either burning out or marriage. We don't have the luxury of living together, unmarried, for the rest of our lives, as we do in our own countries. As soon as we make steps to be together, they take that option away from us. So the OPs friend is looking on the bright side... who wouldn't hope for a relationship that leads to marriage, over a relationship ending?

It has to be "friendship -> relationship -> marriage" though. Maybe the OPs friend should visit a few sites that interest her (non-dating) and make friends on there. I didn't visit websites to find anyone, but I was lucky enough to find Josh :)

When you're actively looking for something that is generally when you're NOT going to find it.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

PS - In our house we call that 'fur'.

Regarding the upper torso, we call it "European Chest Hair Pattern". We've decided it's actually a genetic predecessor of Aran sweaters.

hahaha As someone who has a Scottish husband, and male Scottish friends, and a brother-in-law, let me be the first to say - no she really doesn't :P *hides*

Aside from that, I don't think this is really a site for Scottish singles, considering most folks looking to immigrate are married, engaged, or wildly insane ;)

Good luck with that though!

PS My hubby says to make sure she knows, Mel Gibson is not Scottish, and not all Scottish males wear kilts, toss cabers, or have big fuzzy ginger beards, the only blue parts of his body have occurred due to extreme cold, and c*nt is a term of endearment! ;)

That's what my IRISH husband says... hahahaha. And marrying people who are ginger and having ginger kids while it may seem like a splendid idea is a lot of hard work. I know. I have 2 ginger children, one boy one girl and a ginger husband.

May 2005 - met Chris on message board

July 2005 - came to the states to meet me

July 2005 - got engaged

Aug. 2005 - Decided we couldn't wait

Sept. 2005 - came to visit, plan wedding

Oct. 4, 2005 - Got married

Oct. 16, 2005 - moved to Ireland

August 2006 - our daughter was born

She might want to try an Irishman.

Accent without the attitude. ;)

So big deal some girl likes Scotsmen. And besides that - most of the thread is hilarious.

Accent without the attitude. What part of Northern Ireland is your husband from?

But dear God do I love my husband's accent. We've been married two years(almost) and certain words he says still send shivers down my spine. TO ALL OF YOU WHO THINK ALL IRISHMEN HAVE THE "HOLLYWOOD" IRISH ACCENT... THEY DON'T. SOME HAVE EVEN BETTER.
