There is no “limbo” involved.   Status is the same whether evidenced by plastic card or  receipt notice with extension date.

limbo is waiting for the I 751 or other form to be approved and finding out when u get approved for naturalization and officer says

"have to have the ROC approved 1st"

that's limbo

I applied for my naturalization 1 and 1/2 years after my I-751. In 2 and 1/2 months after I get my N-400 appointment and the officer told be when I was entering the room: “By the way, I already approved your Remove of Conditions.” I told him that my husband was outside if he need to conduct an interview and he told me that was not needed.

I received the notice of approval on my USCIS account the day after and by mail for both forms 5 days later.

Oath ceremony 3 week after the interview.

Each case and office is different.

I wish that you will be getting great news soon!!

Filing N400 worked for us. 19 days after filing N400, had 10 year green card approved and in the mail. A few weeks after that had citizenship test, and 3 weeks later oath ceremony. Seems like they sit on the I-751 until you apply for citizenship, then do something about it.

Seriously, what do these officers do.  Sometimes I picture them just hanging on to the disaster cases, probably getting together for coffee to laugh about them, while the simple ones and straightforward just sit there collecting dust. LOL

Guess again, its not a easy job.

USCIS is hiring, apply away.

I think so, too.  Filing the N-400 certainly moved our case to a swift end of USCIS anxiety.

File I-751 in March 2019

Filed N-400 in Aug 2022

I-751 and N-400 approved on Dec 14, 2022

Citizenship obtained in Jan 2023

Yeah… it’s not easy to see that a couple that has 24 joint bank statements with movement in the account, a joint mortgage, joint utility bills, joint previous leases, joint POAs, flight tickets, passport stamps, pictures, etc is indeed a bona fide relationship ship.
