financial requirement I-864 or I-864 a

I have filed green card petition for my parents. I have a few questions and concerns. My spouse and I file taxes each year together as a couple, but our annual income does not qualify us to sponsor them, as a result I have decided to request my father-in-law to sponsor my both parents. We live with my father-in-law at the same address. My father-in-law makes more than enough to qualify as sponsor for both my parents. Can my Father-in-law sponsor my parents? Should he fill and sign I-864 or I-864 A? Should we go ahead with him being as a sole sponsor since he makes more than the required threshold?  Should I also fill and sign I - 864? Should my spouse also sign I-864 A since we fill taxes each year together as a couple?

It is clearer if you file the I-864 as the primary sponsor and your wife the I-864A as a contributing household member.

You FIL files his own I-864 as a joint sponsor.

He can add his income to yours as a household member and he files the I-864A, but then you will need to reconcile the 2 separate tax returns.

Dear guys, I have asked these question few days ago and some folks answered, but  a few things still unclear to me. Here is my situation. I have filed for my parents green card petition. I and my spouse both file taxes together as a couple every year. We both also work part time as a result, I don't meet financial requirements as a primary sponsor. My father-in-law makes enough to become second sponsor. Does he need to fill I-864 or I-84 A? The reason why I am asking this question is because we live at the same address. Does my spouse also need to fill out I-864 A? Please clarify and answer my questions. I apologize for any inconvenience

@SteveInBoston gave a pretty clear answer. He gave you two options, first is more clear and simple, and second a little more complicated. Which one you go with is your decision
