Has anyone brought cats from UK into OHIO

Ok first of all sorry if this post is in the wrong place I didnt know where to place it.

I would love to hear from anyone out there that has taken their cats from UK to OHIO - either flying into Cincinatti or Cleveland. I would like to know what experiences they went through as one of those airports will be where I will be travelling to with my 3 cats. Is there a special pick up point for the cats after you go through immigration? Will they be ok while we are being dealt with by the Immigration Officer etc.

Just a bit anxious and concerned for the welfare of my 3 babies:)

8 May 2006: File Sent to NVC (as stated on email dated 9 May)

24 May 2006: NVC sends our file to London Embassy

8 June 2006: Packet 3 arrives (DAY 101)

25 August 2006: Pack 3 sent to London Embassy registered post

29 August 2006: London Embassy receives my Pack 3 - 9/9/06 pack 4 arrives

SEPT 2006:APPLICATION PUT ON HOLD - WE HAD A FALLING OUT.

MAY 2007:RESUMED THE VISA APPLICATION

6 June 2007: Medical @ 2.30pm - need to get anew GP letter and psychiatric evaluation

7 June 2007: INTERVIEW @ 10am - waiting for new police record letter

3 July 2007: APPROVED/Visa arrives

I know Mags flew into Cincinnati with her cats... if you ask her or do a bit of a search, you can probably find all the info! :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

I've never flown any animals over but don't you need sho records etc... before they are allowed into the country?

My Timeline or lack of:-

08-29-2000 First met

03-02-2004 He proposed

03-19-2004 Married Cincinnati, OH

03-25-2004 Forms filled waiting on Certified Marriage License.

03-29-2004 3 Copies of certified marriage license handed to me at the local probate court with the $2 per copy fee waived!!!

04-17-2004 FULL packet mailed off finally to Cincinnati Local office.

04-29-2004 Recieve NOA for I-130 and I-485 for our son.

05-01-2004 Recieve NOA for I-130, I-485 and EAD for me.

06-15-2004 Appointment for Fingerprinting and Biometrics at Cincy Sub office. - DONE!

06-17-2004 Cases status for AOS's and EAD updated on USCIS website.

06-21-2004 Fingerprinting review recieved by MSC for I-485's processing resumed.

07-06-2004 Change of addresses sent out to Nebraska, Kentucky and Cincinnati.

08-04-2004 EAD Approved.

08-16-2004 Applied for SSN card at local SSA, relatively painless but with a quirk.

01-30-2006 Interview Cincinnati, APPROVED pending Medical and Vaccination Supplement.

03-14-2006 We're PREGNANT!!

03-23-2006 AOS Notice recieved!!!!

04-03-2006 Cards recieved!

04-24-2006 Miscarriage 12w

04-01-2007 Miscarriage 6w

06-01-2007 Fertility testing begins

07-29-2007 First trip back to England in 4 years.

Oh yes I know Mags took her cats over already I was wandering if anyone else did - I know Mags took her two cats in the cabin with her - unfortunately I have 3 cats and yes David will be comig over to the UK to pick me up and we both go back together but that only means 2 of the 3 cats can come in the cabin with us:( I dont like the idea of the youngest one siting in the hold all by herself:(

Oh btw Mags - what happened when the cats wanted to use the bathroom lol - how did ya manage that were you allowed to take them out of their carriers and sit them on your lap etc? and if you took them has hand luggage did you not have any other hand luggage with ya? or were they like an extra hand luggage?

As far as I can find out is that my 3 cats have their regular boosters every year and I think i rang the CDC and they said no requirements for cats - its just the airline that needs to see the health cert etc. So I guess I dont have to have the rabies injections here in the UK as long as I get them done there in the states with a local vet. David is gonna call the local vets to find out more:)

I just wanted to hear others experiences of their cats being travelling in the hold etc and if they were ok when collected etc, and are they picked up at a seperate location or do they just come thru with the luggage etc? things like that worry me because of a post i read about someone worrying that their suitcase will be going round and round on that carousol while they are held back for the immigration stuff - I cant bear to think that my 3 cats will be going thru that while the officer deals with my immigration paperwork.

umm am I worrying needlessly?

My 3 cats were flown over last month by a company called AirPets based at Heathrow. They were not cheap but their service was outstanding; they literally took care of *everything*.

It'll probably cost about a grand to transport three cats with them no matter where you're going. I strongly recommend at least giving them a call; you can even tell them I sent you. (I don't get anything for it, I just through they did an amazing job.)

You need to check out what the laws in Ohio are for animals; you will almost certainly need to get them vaccinated for rabies and that has to happen several weeks before you transport them and it's often a two-jab series...so GET STARTED ON THAT IMMEDIATELY. If they are behind on any of their standard vaccinations then get them done NOW.

You'll also want to get them microchipped. A lot of airlines won't move a cat that is not microchipped.

Where abouts in Ohio are you? Not that I can be remotely helpful about the cat thing (don't have cats, want cats, mutter mutter), just wondering! :)
