Hello everyone,

I wanted to inquire about the status of my fiance's K1 visa application. We recently went through the interview process and unfortunately, we were refused under 221(G). However, the counselor provided my fiance with a DS 5535 form to fill out and the status date has updated three times since the interview on the CEAC website from 08MAY2023, to 09MAY2023, to 10MAY2023 to 11MAY2023.

We are wondering if the multiple status updates mean that our case is moving quickly and if we should expect to hear something soon. Additionally, we were given a green slip after the interview which we filled out the first day as opposed to the other colors (Yellow, White, Blue).

Has anyone had a similar experience with their K1 visa application? Can anyone offer any insight or advice on what we can expect moving forward?

Thank you in advance for any information or support you can provide.

Sadly, it doesn't mean anything.  Do those happen to be the days that you checked your case status?  Your interview was only 6 days ago.  This will, likely, take several months. This is not unusual for MENA cases.  Patience is still the key.  Good luck.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you Crazy Cat.

To answer your question we refreshed the page everyday up until Friday. Friday was the only day no update was pushed. We thought it meant something but thank you for clarification,

Not sure where you interviewed but Ankara has states administrating processing takes about 6 months or more.

Another member with an Iranian partner is currently going through the same thing.

Greetings all,

My fiance was given a 221(G) due to one job (unpaid volunteer) that we did not list during our DS160 during her interview so we were refused and put into AP. We were given a Green slip and also given a DS-5535 which we submitted the next day. She has one sibling who is underage that does not have an ethnic name and neither does she for someone living in Iran that we believed triggered anything (that was a required question to fill out as long as coutries traveled [only one]). However, these have been our last status updates as of recently

---

Case Last Updated Dates:

08MAY2023 - Interview Date - Ready
09MAY2023 - Refused 221(G) - Documents not Submitted
10MAY2023 - Refused 221(G) - Documents Submitted
11MAY2023 - Refused 221(G) - No Action on our Behalf
22MAY2023 - Refused 221(G) - No Action on our Behalf
24MAY2023 - Refused 221(G) - No Action on our Behalf

Case Status:    Processing Pending
Website Updated:    24 May 2023
Special Notes:    Update email was sent to the principal applicant on 8 May 2023.

-----

Is it irregular to have this many constant updates this early or does this signify good progress?

Please feel free to share information or similar stories. Thank you

That doesn't make sense.  Extended AP is common for MENA countries.

"Lets talk about your work history"
"I used to volunteer and do translations online"
"hmmmm ok.... administrative processing. fill out this form with your work history and send it to our email, it will only take 3 months dont worry"

thats how the conversation went word for word.

They have no idea how long it will take.

Everybody goes through AP.  When records are readily available/shared, then it can be minutes/hours to review the details and go to the next phase/approval.  In countries where the information is not as reliable/available/open to the US government, then it takes longer.

The DS-5535 is another process, and it can take a long time, no matter your location (you can look up the thread in the Canada sub-forum to give you an idea).

If you feel that it is way out of reasonable processing time, you can search "Writ of Mandamus" - this should be your last resort though.
