I  have a Toyota 2016 car and as Toyota Canada is refusing to provide a letter of compliance, does it mean I cannot import my car to the USA? Can someone please confirm. If we can we just need to pay import duty and is there is a guide that we can follow?

Thanks

Hi everyone,

I had called Toyota Canada back in Jan/Feb to issue a compliance letter and they said they were happy to issue it. I did not ask them to issue it then as my move date was in 5-6 months (which I am regretting now). I called them today to issue it and they said they have scrapped the process of issuing compliance letters which is a shocker. I also called US side of Toyota, they still issue the letter for US vehicles only and they are not able to issue it for Canadian Vehicles. So, it means I am kind of stuck on what should i do next. Does anyone have any pointers? How much does the import duty cost? Does it make sense to sell the car and buy one in the USA?

Is there any other workaround?

Thanks
