Daniel Penny Jury Deliberations Delayed Due To Three Jurors Being Severely Beaten On Subway Ride To Courthouse

 

NEW YORK CITY — Jury deliberations in the trial of Daniel Penny were delayed this afternoon after three of the nine jurors were severely beaten on the subway while trying to reach the courthouse.


The beatings were filmed on cell phones by several bystanders, who watched disinterestedly as the jurors were manhandled by homeless schizophrenics.

The jury in the New York trial of Daniel Penny deadlocked a second time this afternoon, so around 3:30 p.m., Assistant District Attorney Dafna Yoran requested that the top count, manslaughter in the second degree, be dismissed.  Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Maxwell Wiley agreed and signed off on the request.


The jury is now deliberating over the lesser charge, criminally negligent homicide, which carries no minimum sentence and a maximum of four years in prison.  [...]

Daniel Penny Judge Tells Jury To Go Back And Deliberate Again Until They Come Back With The Correct Verdict

 

NEW YORK CITY — Judge Maxwell Wiley has ordered the jury in Daniel Penny's trial to go back and keep on deliberating until they come back with a different verdict.


After four days of deliberation, the jury announced that Penny could not be found guilty of manslaughter. Judge Wiley asked if maybe the jury could just pretend that never happened, and instructed them to think of some new charge to deliberate about until they changed their minds.

We don't know the specifics, were there 11 not guilty and 1 favoring conviction, or some other make-up.  Yes this is NYC, but even in NYC there are many people that would love to have Penny ride a train with them.

The jury came back pretty quickly.

The jury quickly came back with an unanimous decision on the lesser count of negligent homicide. 

Screams erupted in the courtroom after a decision was read.
