You made me think about that KateandNik, and like you, whilst I dont want to get caught up in the wordplay, maybe the Horcrux was embodied within the curse itself, and not exactly the body/soul?

The Horcrux, when Voldemort attacked the Potters the first time, was created when the Killing Curse... failed? Rebounded? Whatever. Maybe it was contained within the power of Lily's sacrifice? Just throwing these ideas around.

When Voldemort attacked Harry in the last book though, since his wand was so powerful, it could destroy a Horcrux, but because of Harry's resolution that he had to die, and was willing to die because of Love (Lily's Sacrifice), it only attacked the Horcrux?

There was another who could have killed Voldemort - Neville. He was born the same day/time as Harry, but Voldemort picked Harry to be the one that the prophecy foretold. It was explained in the Half-Blood Prince. It's also why I am SOOO happy he got to at least kill Nagini - however, I'm still unsure how he was able to get the Gryffindor Sword out of the hat since the goblin took it. Maybe it's a miniature 'room of requirement'?

It was that when LV took Harry blood in Book 4, he made himself binding to Harry as Harry's mother'sacrified are in the blood (similar to the Horcrux) so if LV is still alive, Harry will never die.. so when LV attacked Harry, the only thing that die is his soul inseide Harry.

And his willing to die for other people have the same power as Harry's mother's sacrifice and that protect everybody from LV power.

Yea but... if the Horcrux can only be destroyed if the "body" it is concealed in is subject to irreparable magical damage... And Harry didn't die... Maybe because magically you can't bring people back to life? So then... if Harry "died" the Horcrux was destroyed... but then... Ai! My head. Oh well. The book was awesome!

And Niphredil, when I read that part about the sword... I couldn't help thinking... Damn the goblin's gonna be pissed. But yea, I loved Neville's evolution throughout the books! From his very first show of courage in the Sorceror's Stone.

I did enjoy the book and I was sort of glad to see that all worked out well in the end. I did expect to see a few major characters killed off and was convinced that Ron would die at the hands of a deatheater. Anyway it was a good read, and I think JK has every intention of writing another book in the future. It must have been very stressful for her with literally millions of people worldwide demanding another book just after each one was published. She clearly had to be very disciplined with her writing, and I think rightly announced this was the last book. Now she can relax with her family until she figures out what else she wants to do. I think now that she isnt on a timeline, she will wait a few years and then leisurely write another HP book in secret.

There are some answers in here.

In various interviews she said that Luna became some sort of Naturalist and is now travelling the world and discovering all kinds of new species.

Ron & Harry became Aurors and completely changed that part of the ministry of magic. Hermione works for the ministry as well for magic law enforcement (she obviously changed her mind). It seems that the ministry is a much nicer place to work at now.

There is a new headmaster at Hogwart but we don't know who. It's not an old timer though... just someone new.

Err what else did I hear? Oh yeah the life of Mr Weasley was swapped for Tonks & Lupin. He was supposed to die in book 5 but she decided to keep him because 1/ she loves the character and couldn't bear to kill him and 2/ he is the only good father figure left in the book. I'm sad Tonks and Lupin had to go though.

I think that's about it. She says she's done with the books but that she'll write and encyclopedia in the future so we get to know more about the lives of some characters, what happened after etc.

As far as the place where Harry meets with Dumbledore, well... to me it was almost like a Matrix thing, when Neo goes to talk to the Matrix (or whatever). It was definitely a near death experience.

Lupin and Tonks, I thought that by leaving a new born it was like Harry's story all over again, and that by Harry being the godfather, well, it was sort of mending Harry's story, kind of making it right a second time around.

Snape, well... it was confusing, but I always thought that Snape wasnt as bad as we believed, I didnt know the reason, but I thought that if Dumbledore trusted him, it was because he deserved it. In the end, it was love... which was kind of humanizing Snape.

I loved the book and I agree.. after 17 years had passed, I think we would've deserved a little more information that what she gave us.

I'll have to go back and read it again and make sure little details (like the Gryffindor Sword being at Neville's hands) didnt scape me.

And it completely SUCH that we wont have any more stories about Harry....

... which as far as we know, is the Gryffindor Sword, and it had to be a magical object strong enough to break a Horcrux, which we knew the Sword could do. Course, it could be a 'replica' goblin-made sword *shrugs*., not sure if Goblins do... OOHH hang on... oh wait nm, the copy is wizard-made (page 245 - the goblin's revenge). I thought for a moment that the goblin Griphook made a replica and exchanged that for the real one. Oh well, I tried

And you bring up a new interesting point about Tonks and Lupin's kid. Maybe thats where the 'new' HP series will come in? gotto leave room for a sequel ;P Isn't that like a golden rule

He defeated him in the duel - he didn't have to kill him. Otherwise Harry would have had to kill Malfoy to gain control of the Elder Wand.
