At my oath ceremony, USCIS officers were telling us to make an appointment at our local uscis to get a certified copy of our naturilzafion certificate in case the passport folks lose the certificate.

I’ve tried to call the 800 USCIS number but I haven’t been able to make an appointment.

anyone have any tips on how to make an appointment to get a certified copy?? Or any other ways to obtain a certified copy of my certificate? Thanks!

u cant talk with the live agent or they wont give it to u?

say "info pass" and "live agent" to by pass bot

I can’t get a real person and then when I say to the bot certified copy of certificate it asks me if my application has been open since 30 days which makes no sense? I’m a us citizen now.

@vivfran

Do you really need a certified copy of the naturalization certificate?

I got naturalized on 5/10 at the Hartford office. They told me they no longer do certified copies even if someone books infopass.

Maybe you can book a weekend trip to Mexico, and book an emergency passport appointment to get a passport quickly. After that you no longer need the naturalization certificate for anything.

The officer at my ceremony strongly encouraged it as a lot of people’s certificates go missing when they get their passports so idk!

Hi vivfran,

Search on the forum before asking the question is always a good idea! This was covered in details in the post I wrote here below.

Please be aware that your USCIS Regional Field Office will only issue those for valid reasons and the process is very complicated.
