aj1 im sure you will get your visa soon...its been 4 months and i've noticed the AVERAGE seems to be about that. In Shaa Allah it will be very soon. Im praying for you.

Sparrow....good luck...I've noticed Cairo is getting interviews scheduled around 6 weeks or so after they recieve packet 3....depending on where in the interview schedule they are. But you can CALL and ask them to send the packet 3 giving them your NVC assigned case number. I'd do that instead of waiting followed with an email. And I'd have him go get the medical and everything he needs so he can return it as soon as the packet arrives.

Good luck...

AJ1- I'm sure yours is coming any day now!

Amrssnowangel- Thanks-he has everything already except the police certificate (he told me he was going to go get it a couple days ago but every time I ask him if he got it he says "TOMORROW"......but he's teasing me so I'll never know exactly what day he got it...chances are he has it already but he's just being a pain  He would probably never tell me his interview date if he didn't know I have ways of finding these things out!

Does he have to get his medical before sending back packet 3? If so I'll send him the info since I know I saw which doctors he can go to on this board somewhere.

Divorced. To hell with him.

I hope your right. :) after not seeing your man for 18 months and 4 1/2 months of A/P you tend to go crazy after awhile!!!

18 months? I'd go crazy too!!!! (Nevermind, I already AM crazy) I think I'd have to see my man at least once a year! How do you do it?

I would HOPE they have the address correct. As of right now we already know they have my last name spelled wrong. We haven't been waiting long for packet 3...I mean our case just reached Cairo this week so I'm not worried yet ;)

Also, make sure they have the correct phone number. If they can't find the house/flat they'll call. Even if they can, they usually call. My husband always got a phone call and/or SMS before he got any packages from the embassy.

Yes, he must have his medical exam done to send in with the packet 3. Also, does he have a copy of his military paperwork ready?

I know he's exempt from military service so I believe he always has related paperwork ready because that issue comes up a lot for him.

Police certificate: doesn't have it yet but he says he'll get it soon

I sent him the contacts for the doctors I found in another topic :)

I'm sure someone else can explain this better than me, I tried replying but all I know is what my fiance told me and some other info his dad told me some years back. I don't really want to get jumped on if I have some info wrong sooooo......

It's mandatory that Egyptian men serve at least 2 years in the military (right? I think it's 2).

The papers would be proof he served or proof he's exempted.

The military piece is a document that is now required proving the man has either served or been delayed or dismissed. Egyptian men up to the age of 3o are REQUIRED to serve a minimum of ONE year up to THREE years in the military. The only exceptions are in the event of illness, or if they are the ONLY son...(not sure but maybe OLDEST sons to since they are ultimately responsible for mom and dad and family)

Some men are fortunate enough to bypass this. During the selection process a computer determines the military needs and current level of those drafted. Such as the case with my SO....they did NOT take anyone in his birth year OR from his education degree. He is DELAYED..meaning he has to refile each year...but can gain permission to travel.

If your man has been DELAYED...he WILL need to go get permission from the military to travel. If he is DISMISSED he will not have to server EVER..and if he did his service...well..he's done. This paper is needed to show that he is not required to serve in the military...but remember he WILL need to go get permission to travel and I think that is granted once he gets his visa...i will check on that. (which takes about a day)

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure. My fiance is the only son. Interestingly enough my fiance told me that while he is exempt from service (we are both 23) he would not be exempt from a draft if Egypt were to go to war and therefore still needs permission to travel. Has anyone ever heard of the delay in military service until HIS father turns 55 to "ensure" no more sons will be born? My fiance had to be in Egypt from when he turned 18 until his dad turned 55 which is when his exemption became permanent.

Divorced. To hell with him.
