Deadline to schedule interview?

Good morning everyone!

I was wondering, if there was a deadline to schedule the K1 interview. We were very eager to schedule and now that appointments have come up, they are conflicting with my fiancé's work schedule. We will have to wait. How long is too long? Of course we don't want to lose the opportunity alltogether. That would be devastating. Just trying to make everything work.

Thanks to everyone who has any answers!

if there is an open interview spot ,  take it

In some embassies they fill up too fast

i just don't understand that work would be more important than something u waited this long for

Thank you for your judgement, while you did nothing to answer the question! You don't know everyone's personal situation!

and no one can answer without knowing things u leave out that will affect scheduling an interview

like if the USC is thinking he/she needs to be there for the interview and no,  the USC ,  at most embassies ,is not allowed in

and Judge???? how do u want this post answered?

I  googled the question in multiple ways trying to find an answer for u/ there is no info available that i could find

no need for u to be rude

Since you seem to have some sort of special circumstance, your best bet is to reach out to your specific embassy & let them know the specifics of your situation & how long you intend to postpone the interview. I know that there is some sort of unofficial time period on it at which times the application is considered to be abandoned but I typically remember that being up to a year. When that year timer starts...I don't know...and I wouldn't push it so your best bet is to simply contact the embassy directly as they are the ones who will ultimately make the call.

If there was a timeline, then the reasons would not matter, would they? If a certain date passed and people were to come with "my cat ate my homework..." well, tough luck!  I was really just looking for facts, in case someone heard about such deadline.

Thank you. We'll definitely reach out.

Officially Petition is valid for 4 months BUT the consulate does sometimes extend the validity (they were doing this automatically during the height of COVID and Because of the backlog).

My Petition Expired – Can It Be Extended?

The I-129F petition is valid for four months from the date of approval by USCIS. A consular officer can extend the validity of the petition if it expires before visa processing is completed.

Issue is… if you leave it too long CO might question the validity of your relationship and deny the K1 because they don’t believe you or your partner are serious about the relationship…

This member’s post details the request for a second interview because they didn’t schedule an interview for about a year…

ETA: I see you’re interviewing in Montreal…

they’re notoriously difficult to work with and not great at responding to queries so I would schedule the least disruptive interview time… your fiancé will not be allowed to work after he arrives in the US so you need to figure out how important the work schedule is in the long run (unless you want to start over and marry and go the spousal visa route)

1.  Who's work schedule?  The K1 interviewee or the US citizen petitioner?

2.  What country?

The beneficiary who goes to the interview of course. Canada. We sent an email to inquire a few days ago. So we will see what they say. I'll update here too, in case anyone else needs this info later on.
