Hello kind people,

I'm a US citizen in the process of applying for a green card for my Mexican wife. Fortunately our case was recently transferred to the NVC

1. Is my understanding correct that once the consulate approves our visa application they will send a SSN card in addition to the green card?

2. Can my wife travel domestically with the temporary green card before arrival of the official green card by mail?

Thank you

Approving a visa doesn’t make one an LPR. They have to cross at a POE to activate the visa, that’s when they officially become an LPR. Yes, SSN is supposed to be mailed but sometimes doesn’t so you’d have to go to SSA office and apply.

She can travel internationally too on a temporary one.
