New Family Reunification Parole extension for El Salvador

DHS is creating new family reunification parole processes for El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Colombia. The current program, available to Cubans and Haitians, allows U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents to apply for parole on behalf of their family members who are still living in their home country and are unable to legally enter the United States. Does anyone know the process to bring a family member and what forms to fill out? I(US Citizen) started the K1 process with my wife(green card holder) around 3 years ago. She is now a US resident. There was an announcement that the US gov is extending the program to El Salvador. My wife wants to bring her unmarried sister to the States. Any input is appreciated.

You may apply for humanitarian parole if you have a compelling emergency and there is an urgent humanitarian reason or significant public benefit to allowing you to temporarily enter the United States. Anyone can file an application for humanitarian parole. If you do not have an urgent humanitarian reason for your visit, you must follow the normal visa issuing procedures set by the Department of State.

New Family Reunification Parole Processes. DHS is creating new family reunification parole processes for El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Colombia. The agency is also modernizing existing family reunification parole processes for Cuba and Haiti. These processes, once finalized, will allow vetted individuals with already approved family-based petitions to be paroled into the United States, on a case-by-case basis. The U.S. Government will deliver timely and efficient authorization for those approved and vetted to travel. Individuals paroled into the U.S. under these processes would be eligible to apply for work authorization.

What that means I do not know

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

the read indicates it will cut down on illegal entry by allowing people to apply for this / it's a way for USCIS to know where people are (or suppose to be)

it says they can not apply for this at the border plus a lot of other info mostly to cut down on illegal entry

interesting

There will be no need to enter illegally if you can enter legally. We also have the fun and games next week to look forward to.

The May 11 roll out of expedited asylum/credible fear determination within 72 hours? …Am wondering who they contracted to provide representation…

Numbers thrown about are that non represented asylum seekers fail credible fear 75% of the time while those w attorneys pass 75% of the time.

Either way, the asylum landscape has drastically changed since May , 2022 for everyone showing up at the border. They are all placed in expedited removal and if they pass credible fear their AMI is super fast..

Still, asylum seekers are a much smaller issues than the influx of our Mexican migrants who want the easy access to jobs.

Well it is not just Mexico, 120 countries were mentioned, I forget where I saw it but I read an article about a Lady from China and her trip to the Border via South America, I did think without good legal representation she had no chance of passing a credible fear interview.

I think the lawyers will have access to their clients remotely

As I understand it , they will detain for 72 hours during which credible fear will be done through USCIS ( not CBP) and some agency has been selected to provide attorneys…logistically all of that is remote ( phone or video). ..whoever made it to the border .

So far Russians have been most successful by far w better smart phones to book CBP online slots for credible fear.

I meant , Mexico influx is largely non asylum seekers..they don’t come though at POE asking for “papers”…just cross at vulnerable border spots and start working.

With Mexico agreeing to take back all nationalities of expedite removals from border…looks like plan in place is moving along.

I think the refoulement is just for a few countries

Everyone seeking asylum at the border. ..some exceptions for children and of course those who are being extend parole.

Under the Biden administration’s fast-track program, those who don’t qualify will be deported “in a matter of days or just a few weeks,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Thursday
