I do not think so. The only time that comes into effect is if you have children. But since you can't get CCTB or GST checks in the USA, it doesn't matter. What really makes it so you get a better refund is the fact that you didn't work in the USA and only worked in Canada last year. I didn't do that so my $1000 refund suddenly became like $75.

Hey all - update from the EI claim after moving here. Once we leave Canada and have eligibility to work in USA (which you would with Spousal visa, not sure about Fiance), we get 'transferred' to Inter

Never mind! Service Canada called me back this morning to let me know they've approved my EAD, I should start seeing payments as early as tomorrow, or as late as next Monday.

I did the downloadable forms because the online filing systems wouldn't let me continue due to no Canadian address.

When I was in Canada, if I called a few times in a row, I was able to get through. It doesn't seem to be working today.

When I was in Canada, if I called a few times in a row, I was able to get through. It doesn't seem to be working today.

When I call in Friday mornings, I haven't yet had an issue. My question for you is if you've just started calling from the US as we never get to transfer to a representative, we only get to leave a message and they call you back if need be/if you don't leave complete reporting information.

Beneficiary - Applying for CR1/IR1 (but also played the K3 card prior to understanding it may be phased out.)

2013: July 20: I-130 sent (Chicago lockbox)

July 24: I-130 NOA1

July 24: I-129F sent (Dallas Lockbox)

Aug 2: I-129F NOA1

Aug 12: Alien Registration Number was changed, I-129F.

2014: Jan 28/29/30: - 3 transfer notices for I-130 and I-129F.

Feb 3 - Hard copy arrived -Notice of transfer to Texas stating Jan 29th.

Feb 10 - NOA2

Feb 27 - email stating I-130 being sent to NVC from TSC.

March 6 -NVC received our case.

April 7 - CASE NUMBER yay! IIN and BIN obtained and email given.

April 9 - DS261 available and filled in online.

April 9 - AOS not yet payable but visible.

April 10 - email regarding NVC case number and access to DS261 received/ email regarding AOS received and paid.

April 11 - AOS sent by snail mail.

April 14 - AOS arrived per mail tracking.

April 15 - IV bill received via email, IV bill paid/ in process, IV package sent.

April 18 - IV bill showing paid/ DS-260 available and done!

- AOS scanned into their system.

April 21 - IV package arrived per mail tracking.

April 24 - IV scanned into their system.

May 2 - False checklist for IV documents= AOS approval.

May 13 - NVC rep reported ? missing Police certificate via my phone call.

- Supervisor review initiated.

May 14 - Checklist for Police certificate came via email.

- Sent checklisted documentation priority post!

May 15 - Package delivered per mail tracking.

May 19 - Case COMPLETE!! Police certificate found by NVC:)

May 28 - Case complete email arrived.

May 30 - Assigned Interview date!

June 2 - Interview letter arrived via email.

June 11- Medical appointment Surrey, BC

July 8 - Interview in Montreal!! APPROVED!!!!!!!! July 10 - Visa package and passport in hand!! July 23 - POE!!

I may be calling a different number then. At this stage, I'm trying to do a change of address with Service Canada. If your new address is outside Canada, you haveto call, instead of making the change yourself onthe website. I'm kicking myself for not having done it before I left, when I got through for something else.

So I went to call EI and got surprised by a live person answering the phone! I guess they are answering the phones now, and the only time you leave your number on a message is if everyone is already on a call.

yeah I know Im use to the long message then leaving now it asks if u want english or french as long as its faster thats what Im all for

I am not able to work because i dont have ead, but dont have an end date because i dont have ead yet.

Yes you tell them the truth. I would include a copy your NOA1 for the AOS if you have that however.

applied for EI two weeks ago, someone actually called me last monday and did the questionnaire online and gave me the number to call every two weeks to do the forms. what do they typically ask, anyone know?

January 8th 2014 - NOA1

July 10th 2014 - NOA2

NVC

July 17th 2014 - Case shipped to NVC

July 30th 2014 - Case received by NVC

August 13th 2014 - Case number and IIN received by email

August 13th 2014 - DS-261 Form Completed

August 14th 2014 - AOS Fees Invoiced and Paid

September 17th 2014 - IV Fees Invoiced and Paid

September 19th 2014 - DS260 Completed

October 6th 2014 - AOS and IV Packages Received

November 28th 2014 - AOS and IV Checklist (4 items in total. 3 for documents they lost. Called on December 9 and a rep said no checklist for IV....go figure)

December 8th 2014 - Checklist scan date.

December 30th 2014 - Case Compl........NOT. So after not having an interview date yet, I called again on Jan 30th and apparently its in final review with a supervisor.

February 6th 2015 - Case Complete: Supervisor called from NVC to confirm everything has been completed now.

March 27 2015 - Interview Date

March 27 2015 - Approved!

Think I only had that done once..and they fellow just read what was on the card, which pretty much centered on what NLR stayed.....They may ask where you applied to work as well

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
