I need to do my first report since moving to the US and am wondering the best way to do it.

Internet - asks for my provice of residence ... do I put my previous residence (Saskatchewan) or is this only an option for people living in Canada.

Telephone - tried the telephone reporting service number (1800-531-7555) and keeps saying "call failed". There is also the 1-800-206-7218 but I can't seem to get through.

Mail - haven't recieved anything in the mail so this is out of the question for this reporting period,

do the phone....i did all mine over the phone. You leave a message and they call you back, super quick and easy! I do not have the number anymore, but it was the "out of Country claims office" you get a v/m and leave a msg and then a nice lady named Christina calls you back

I was told I could not report online as I was in America.

There is an international number you need to call. You leave a message and they call you back. Otherwise you can mail in the forms, but I don't recommend it because it takes FOREVER to get to them and they do something. The money is normally in your bank 2 business days after the phone call. It has to be a Canadian bank so I hope you either have a way to move it down (RBC or TD) or you plan on leaving it in Canada until you have enough to bother wiring down.

Someone did one... but as far as I understand it, according to EI international, you have to do them via mail or phone. If you're doing them online they may not be understanding that you're in the USA.

I wish we could do it online...I hate waiting around making sure I get the phone call, it is hard now that I work on Fridays, I have been so busy I forgot to call on Friday, so now I have to try to remember to tomorrow! One Friday was so horrible, I accidentally hung up on them by accident when they called, then missed it when they called again! Would be so much easier to do it online. I would do the mail in forms but then you have to wait so long.

I imagine it might be an IP address thing on their system for the online access. Hopefully the phone thing isn't too much of a hassle.

Did I also read somewhere I should apply on my last day of work?? Or wait till I know the ROE has been filed by my employer?

Just curious. I want to make sure I get my application in first thing, as I have debt I need to service after I leave Canada.

Wait until your ROE is filed. You have 4 weeks to apply without issues.

I have called the office at least 5 times since mid July and have never received a call back. I recently got a job offer here in CA and am pending EAD... hopefully approved this week (considering the timelines here). I should just probably forget about EI ever calling me back.
