Just wondering if anyone else has gone through this!!

Any restrictions with EI when receiving benefits but traveling home to Canada?

Would you have to declare "not available for work"? During the time you were home? And would this affect benefits?

I have heard you tell them you were gone for that period of time and they stop the payments and then they restart when you get back I assume you tell them on the phone when you call with your reports. Someone else who has actually done it would know more though !

During the move I made to to tell them I was not available to work and was not eligible for benefits during that week.

Also because my last pay check came a week after I quit, they took that money into consideration and also subtracted any benefits I would get otherwise.

So if you're not home, not willing, able, and ready to work, yes you have to say that.

I called this morning to do my first over the phone report...I said I was doing my EI report, and said my SIN # and my name & the number to call. They never called back Will they call on Monday or do I have to call again?

If anyone from BC has gotten the full benefit amount for EI (514/week) - how much does it work out to be CAD after the taxes/penalty. How much is actually put into your account?

How much you receive depends entirely upon how many work weeks you qualified for and what your hourly wage was before you applied.

My husband is eligible for the max benefit of 514/week based on his wage/weeks worked. I know there are taxes and/or penalty taken out of that before it is deposited into his Canadian bank account. I am just curious as to how much the $ amount is after those deductions because i am trying to get our budget all set.

Taxes are taken out but they're relative to the amount given.

You'll have to wait and see what his first pay is. All I knew is that it would be approximately 50-55% of my pay before EI, which it was.

My total weekly benefit of $436 was taxed at 25% for a weekly total of $327.

If you're no longer in Canada you have to call the international number and wait for a call back.

I managed to apply for EI online & today I received a letter with access code and two questionnaire like thingy with a "do not sign before date". The letter does not have any fax number. Only a phone # to contact (1-800-206-7218) if I do not have access to internet & self addressed envelope to mail the questionnaire forms. what should I do next? I do know that I will receive my benefits only after EAD.

Of course I would like to let them know my information asap. Is calling them my only option? I have read that people "fax" their Visa/I-94 etc., what is the fax number/ why I was not asked to mail anything like that?

can someone Please help me with step-by-step info for completing this EI thingy?

I think the fax number is posted in the thread somewhere. I've lost mine. It's been over a year.
