if possible. Mine still wrote "E" which means "quit" but it worked out okay because it's obvious to EI why I moved.

Can Service Canada even verify if I am working in the US or do they just have to take my word for it that I am unemployed?

They pretty much take your word for it, at least to start. Eventually they may start asking for proof of applications etc... but personally, I don't suggest lying because if they find out, you owe them the money.

They can contact you and ask for the names of the places that you have applied to, and its easy enough for them to call them. lying is never a good option

I quit my job 3 weeks ago. K-1 interview is next week and plan to move to the states within 2 weeks after that. (about a month and a week after quitting work)

When should I apply for EI? Before I move or after I move and we are married?

You can apply anytime after you are approved at interview I think (K1 might be different?) You will not receive anything, however, until after you get the EAD card after you AOS.

Service Canada deposited my first EI check yesterday.

Does everyone here collected or planning to collect all the weeks of EI entitlement before accepting a job or look for a job.?

I started looking for one ... No luck yet. .. Any suggestion?

One has to be actively looking for a job while on EI.....EI Canada can contact you and ask for list of the places you have applied to. And if you find an acceptable job and it is offered to you, I do believe you have to accept it. If the EI folks were to find out you turned down an acceptable job offer, I do believe they can terminate your EI.

Good to hear! I thought you had to apply within a month of when you quit your job.

I received 28 weeks of entitlement with over 1150 hours worked.

Quit my job due to health and safety hazards. Took forever to get approval.

I was never asked for proof of applications or anything like that.

Just make sure you do your reports.. The sooner you do them the sooner you receive your pay.

Once you are in the USA you have to call in to do the reports and it takes 2 days to get paid. (IE you call friday, you get paid tuesday... You call Monday, you get paid Thursday) It's by direct deposit into a Canadian account. I set up an RBC Canada account and an RBC USA account while in Canada so that I could transfer the money across the border.
