I called the interstate claims office to talk to them about my claim. She told me to fax to this number 1-613-545-8934. She said if you fax to the other number then it has to be resent to the other office who looks after the EAD's when they come in. Not a hugh deal she said, but it just makes it a little easier and doesn't delay the process any longer then it needs to be. Just thought I would let you all know.

im just wondering if my friend's friend who's an accountant is right. he says I am still considered a resident of Canada b/c i am collecting EI? I told him i have been in US for 252 days out of 2009. I worked until April 2009 and have no properties or assets. so when i file my canadian taxes, i have to report my worlwide income just like in US

When I called the international tax office on different occasions, I was repeated told that Canada considered me a Cdn resident until I was issued my greencard. So even though I left Canada in May, I was a Cdn resident for tax purposes until Nov when I got my card.

Got a call from Donna today from interstate claims office. I had sent my fax on the 5th of January and she said they had still not received it... Weird.... She says there's so many fax's coming through, and sometimes they get lost. She asked me what # I faxed to and it was the one Wis-can posted She gave me her email address to scan a copy of my GC because she didn't want to wait another day. It sounds like to me I will do my last reports over the phone with her, because I still haven't received any of Decembers report cards!

Hopefully I will be getting $$ soon!

I am not sure if its b/c i live at the other side of the continent or Canada post is just overly terrible, but my report cards NEVER get to her. and if it ever does, it takes 2 weeks or more. So, i always send them out like always (even though i know she'll never receive it), then I call her 1 week later and asks her if she received my report card yet. She'll tell me no and we end up processing my EI info over the phone. then my money is deposited the next business day. However, i dont think they do direct deposits on Mondays. I've been doing it this way since August 2009.

My cards are extremely slow coming, I think the last one I sent back was for the 2nd week in November! That was about a month ago now. Doesn't really matter right now that its behind but once my EAD comes I will have to call them and see if they can send me a bunch or process it over the phone.

Oh how wonderful for an email address. I'm sure I have a phone # when I first got the letters and such. I just got approved for my EAD today!! Yipppppeeee.... I hope to receive my card within a week or so. I'll track down that number and see if I can get a hold of Donna and get her email. I'd rather scan and send it that way too. Thanks for the tip!

They wont send you pre printed ones. I tried. If the cards don't get to you by the end of the 2 week period, just call Donna and she will process it over the phone. this has happened to me before.

I think Canada Post has the slowest service ever! it takes 2 days for my mail to get from Washington to Arizona but Canada Post would take 3 days just to get a mail delivered locally.

Canada Post is ridiculous, my parents got their Christmas Card yesterday. I mailed it the first week of December! Its a 6 hour plane ride, and two hours in a car to get to their house..and it takes that long for an envelope to get there. Mind boggling!

Strange..I mailed off cards from SC to BC, regular mail, and I know of two that got there before Christmas.

Ummmm however my own family never let me know if they got theirs...

When I was back in Nova Scotia I would mail something to Pete and it would take 2-3 weeks for it to get to him. I really don't understand what takes so long. We didn't even mail the hoho presents home. Figured we'd take them when we went. I took the box down to the post office and after they quoted $85 dollars we decided they could wait. Come on AP....we wanna go to Nova Scotia!

i just reported my hours for the last 2 weeks from december. I sent my report card on Dec 28 and Donna hasnt received it yet. I wish there was an easier way to do this. I would send Donna an email and she used accept emails but there is a new "policy" and she doesnt like to get reports or any other information about you except if she authorizes you to send her some info by email. so keep that in mind. She will just send you a generic message saying do not email her personal information due to new policy

Hey...

question for you all... .

I have two jobs, one full time ( the big money maker) and a second job that's part time on the weekends.

IF I were to quit the BIG job during the week sooner, for the same reasons, to relocate to be with spouse and the smaller job later, which ROE would they look at OR

do they just want to see that I've logged the right amount of hours and made a certain amount of money over the years?

I am not sure how this works. I will probably stay at both jobs until the same time but part of me almost wants to ditch the big job a little sooner.

Not sure if I'm being clear here and if not, I'd be happy to clarify if someone were able to help/answer my questions.

i think they are looking at your hours if you qualify for EI. and you're already stating that you're relocating so you shouldnt have a problem.

But Texanadian is the expert with this and can confirm whats the correct answer.

This is what I was thinking but just would like it confirmed -- I think they look at hours, cumulative as well as income but just want to make sure that I don't screw myself if I DO decide to leave big-time job sooner.

I am not sure about quitting both jobs at different time though. Its all up to EI's discretion.
