Ok... here's an up-date.

I checked online this morning and found the following information.

"We have received new information about your claim. We have not yet made a decision but will (basically) try to have a decision made by August 27, 2008 or the following day."

Start date of Claim - July 6, 2008

Benefit Type - Regular

Earnings - $$$

Fed Tax - 25%

Allowable Earning - $$$

Weeks of Entitlement - 34

End date of Claim - July 4, 2009

For the week of July 20 - 26, we processed your claim and a payment of $0 has been processed.

Laura - they don't pay you for the first 2 weeks. That is the waiting period.

Oh because I got two cards and the first card was dated June 13th till June whatever...and then the next from that date till August 1st.

I got 2 sets of cards tooo. The first for 2 weeks and the second was for 1 week. Now when I check online they tell me I have another set to complete and submit on August 8. I haven't received them in the mail as yet, but I'm sure they'll arrive soon.

Most times I called and reported over the phone...I found that rarely did I even get the cards in the timeframe I was supposedly supposed to submit, they are quite friendly. Generally, I spoke to the same woman most times

How'd you report over the phone? Actually call into the office?

In the US, I've found that the telephone reporting phone number won't accept my call nor will the internet reporting website. I've always had the cards show up late. Heck, I just mailed the ones for the 2 middle weeks of July earlier this week. Never been an issue as far as losing a week.

I reported over the phone once, think it was after I won my appeal. I just called the normal # and they took it over the phone.

Called the Out of canada claim office # from your letter that you received...each time they said 'you can wait for the cards,' but I said they didn't seem to come in a timely fashion....I listed the number a few pages back i think

Hello everyone,

I don't have time to read through all 20+ pages of this thread right now, so I hope you all don't mind me asking some questions that I'm sure have been covered.

1. Does my husband have to have the EAD for him to apply for EI? (We don't have it yet, nor did he get the temp stamp at POE.)

2. What's the website where he can apply?

3. Is there any other info we need to get started?

Hi Rae

ROE - Record of Employment.

He can apply any time. All he needs is a copy of his K-1 and I-94 to submit along with his ROE. His employer may have submitted it electronically.

Scott applied online yesterday, so we'll just wait for his ROE to come and go from there.

Your employer HAS TO have the ROE to you in 5 days, that's law (I worked at an employment centre so we had to know these things). Generally, a ROE must be issued within five (5) calendar days of the interruption of earnings or the date the employer becomes aware of the interruption.

You can apply online for EI as well as fill in your "cards" online: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/

When EI gets your application, they will automatically send you cards in the mail (takes sometimes 2 weeks to receive them) and a "PIN" number. You can easily change your PIN by calling the toll free number (if the one they issued does not work). Getting cards does not mean you have been approved to receive EI - I got cards & thought that I was eligible until the website said the usual "we are processing your request, we hope to have a decision by Aug 14, 2008"...blah, blah, blah...I got a call today saying that I wasn't eligible...I was hoping that someone inexperienced would approve my app. Anyways, once to create a profile thru Service Canada, no need to mail anything, do it all online.

Hope this helps anyone entitled to their benefits they've paid into! Good luck everyone!

Hi Jen

When I sign into the website and input my information, it tells me I can't fill in my cards online. Would that change if I'm approved?
