I know I tend to bring up thrilling topics of conversation! Actually, I'm hoping that's the culprit because it's an easy fix. I've basically had chapped/irritated lips for about 18 months and am on a trial baking soda regimen. I tried a few different brands, including Tom's of Maine (my fave), but they all have the same foaming agent that apparently isn't an unusual allergen.

Carmex with the green lid is the best for dry/chapped lips. In fact, I can't find it anymore and even checked the website hoping I could order online. Can someone please send me some??? I'm a carmex addict and I've had to settle for cherry flavored, but prefer the greenncap.

I'm not sure I've seen it w/ the green lid. I've tried about every remedy, vaseline is about the only thing that's not irritating. Bad genes, I say! I have weird ailments.

I've only been avoiding toothpaste altogether for three days, but so far, so good. I suspect that the offending ingredient is sodium lauryl sulfate, and you can buy toothpaste that doesn't have it. But I have to give it a few more days before I'll be convinced it's the culprit.

actually, you dont need toothpaste, just a toothbrush and floss...however, for breathe issues.....can you use mouthwash?

I'm not sure--I hope so! I figure I'll stick to the baking soda for a few more days, then try different things and see what I react to. Thanks for the interest! I bet I'm putting everyone to sleep. ZZZZZZz
