Interview September 23rd 2023

Office is Atlanta, GA

I had my citizenship interview today.

1. Arrived at 9:10 for a 9:30 appointment (big mistake as it was extremely busy)

2. Got through security at 9:25.

3. Was called into the interview room around 9:50

  - Civic Test (my officer stopped after I answered 6 questions correctly).

  - I was asked to read a sentence.

  - I was asked to write a sentence.

  - Officer went through my application and added trips I made since my application.

  - Officer asked about Yes & No questions

  - She asked me if I had any questions and I used that opportunity to ask for a same day Oath which she granted.

4. I was escorted back  to the waiting area at 10:06 to wait for my Oath ceremony at 11:30.

5. I was checked in for Oath Ceremony at 11:15 and my green card was taken away for good.

6. Oath Ceremony was completed and I got my certificate of citizenship.

I will be applying for my passport and going to the social security office on Monday. Good luck to you all.

My husband and I got our interview for October 6, we filed on May 29, ou4 local office is Sacramento, CA.  We tried to reschedule our interview since we have an international trip coming up mid November.  We were told that we need a compelling reason to reschedule the interview,  so we kept the appointment.  My question is: do you uys think we can reschedule the oath ceremony ( assuming we get approved) if it gets scheduled too close or during our trip?

Yes that's much easier to request for a future date than the actual interview.

Earlier this year, wife's passport took 7 weeks (with expedite and 1 day shipping).  The DOS estimate was exactly correct.  Hopefully, the turn-around times have gotten better.

- Mailed 5/26

- NOA 6/2

- Interview was scheduled update 8/20

- Interview scheduled for 9/27

- Same day oath 9/27

Evidence submitted: Copy of GC, cooy of current marriage certificate, copy of previous divorce, copy of my disclosed traffic violation and payment, copy of selective services card.

Arrived at 8:20 for 8:35 interview. Check in took 10 mins. Was valled in around 8:45. IO was super friendly. Got 6/6 civics part and moved to reading and writing a sentence. Then Yes and No questions. My attorney asked the IO to update my recent travel dates.

IO said everything looked good and asked if I planned to travel in the next few weeks. He informed me that of I agreed to the same day oath my GC was going to be taken away and that I'd need to wait weeks for my passport. I took the same day oath 30 mins after my interview. Oath took 30 mins or so. Received my Naturalization Certificate immediately and left 🇺🇸

Total timeline 4 months from mailing the docs to naturalizing.

Good luck to all!

One question  while preparing for Combo interview: do I really need to make another set of bank statement copies from marriage until now - they got already all of those for I-751 and N-400 up to May'23 , or is it enough to just add the most recent ones/ since applying for N-400? I plan to take the originals for at least since I751. Any thoughts?

Our officer wanted to see evidence from time of initial filing of the I-751 to interview date.  He was especially interested in bank statements, leases, drivers licenses addresses, etc.

Thank you- I want to take the required evidence and new evidence since initial filing. Just because they got already the bank acc copies from AOS until filing for N-400 ( basically twice) I'm thinking to take all originals since I-751 until now plus a few from opening one acc in 2014 until now and highlight utility bills, trips, car purchases and so on. Showing shared responsibilities. Good idea?
