-7/19: Interview at the Houston office - no instant approval, case needed to be reviewed 

Hi do you mind sharing what year did this misdemeanor happen? I have one from 2015. Filed under 3 year rule although I been a green card holder since 2012,  I’m a bit worry . Let us know when you have an update please .

To edit: biometrics was actually on 6/7, and I filed under the five year rule shortly after divorcing my ex-husband. Figured I may as well since I'd be paying to change my name on my green card anyway.

Can't deny how pleasantly surprised I am to get scheduled when processing times are around 10 months in my area. No movement on my I-751 but hoping for a combo interview.

I filed my N-400 on 05/08/2023, status changed on 05/09/2023 to: actively being reviewed. Biometrics reused. 

 

On 07/11/2023 I received my interview notice for 08/24/2023.

 

(3 year rule - pending I751)

Update: I had my interview yesterday (N400 with a pending I751). We had the same officer from the I485, she didn't even bother asking for evidence and went straight to civic test. I passed the test! She said she'd request my 751 to be transferred and then approve both. Now just waiting for that to happen so I can attend the oath ceremony.

Got some updates:

 

So I had my interview on 07/25 which went pretty smooth under 15 minutes, for some reason it was virtual even though it was in an office at the USCIS office.  Well, I got issued the passed and congrats paper and later in the day.

Today, 07/28 I got a notice text and checked online status to see "Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed". Opened the PDF from Documents tab and Oath ceremony is 08/17.

Oh, this is not important but I thought its something I need to point out.

Up until today before I got the USCIS notice text on oath ceremony, my status had the following:

 

- Case Was Submitted For Quality Review Based On An Approval Recommendation    July 25, 2023
- Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling.    July 25, 2023

 

Then after I got the text notice for oath ceremony, my status changed to the following:

 

- Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed    July 28, 2023
- Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling.    July 25, 2023
- We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review.    July 25, 2023

 

See the difference and change from "Case was submitted..." to "We recommended..."?  Weird that the dates didn't change even though the wordings of the statuses changed .

Hi everyone! Today was my interview. Everything was great and smooth. It was about 10-15 minutes max. They asked me the 6 civics questions which I answered correct, reading and writing was super easy and then to the regular questions of the n-400 form. The officer congratulated me and told me I passed my exam. She gave me a paper where it says it was recommended for approval.

 

I arrived home and I checked on the website where it says I was placed in line for my oath. I hope my ceremony is soon.

 

My best advice is to not worry or stress so much. Study and have all your paperwork ready in case they ask. (I took a big folder with all my original documents, bills, etc etc but the officer did not ask for anything).

 

This experience is from Dallas, Tx.

 

I applied online on May 19th, reused biometrics, june 28th scheduled my interview, july 28 interview, passed and placed in line for oath.

Did you get your oath scheduled in person immediately after your interview or how did you get it scheduled so quickly?

Yes the officer told me and then handed me the invitation. After a day, the notice was also uploaded to the USCIS web site.
