It’s been a little over 30 days since I received my NOA2 so I’m going to contact the NVC for the first time. I’ve heard different opinions. Is the NVC only responding to inquiries through email or is it possible to speak to someone on the phone?

Good luck! And only through the online NVC inquiry form it seems. NVC doesn’t take calls anymore.

Until then, we basically decided to just forget about it over the summer and go back into "endless waiting mode". We had 16 months to get used to that, so another 3 won't kill us!

That’s my approach as well! I’ll start to worry when I’m around 70, 80 days in. And yes, I’m thinking late September for me for the interview too. And moving in late October. Marrying in November/December even if on the holidays. Having a whole winter Christmas wedding thing wasn’t my plan but it is what it is haha

Yep, that sounds about right time-wise. I hope I can get the visa in my hand by the beginning of October because I have to give the council a month's notice of moving out of my house and I would rather not have to buy any more fuel for the heating if it drags on into the autumn! Also, it's Tana's birthday on November 1st, so it would be nice for her if I could get over there by then. As for the wedding itself, we had a chat about it a couple of weeks ago, and what with the time-line looking the way it does, we decided to just go ahead with a "paper wedding" as soon as I arrive (i.e., just get married at the city hall with a couple of witnesses), simply so we can get the paperwork to file for AOS right away. We'll have the "proper" wedding sometime next summer rather than try to squeeze it in as a rush-job around Thanksgiving.

question for everyone here- we got our NOA2 on may 24th and my fiance (in the us) got the form i-797c yesterday in the mail. does this mean the nvc will receive our case shortly or does everyone get this soon after being approved?

Everyone gets it. Technically, the I-797 IS the NOA2. It just means the USCIS has finished dealing with your case and is moving you over to the NVC. Unfortunately, there's currently a three-month backlog at the NVC, so it'll probably be the end of August / beginning of September before your petition reaches the NVC

okay makes sense, thanks!!

this might be a bit of good news for everyone, but i do know that someone that got their approval feb 15th, got the notice the nvc rec'd their documents on april 14th and interview is june 13th. so not ideal but might be a realistic timeframe!

It unfortunately the last part does depend on how backlogged is your embassy. I follow the timelines here on VJ and interviews are being scheduled 2 months after we can fill DS-160, unfortunately. The USCIS to NVC part is usually taking 60-90 days, but the rest of the process really depends on the country.

Yeah, I'm debating here if we should just go and get married quickly and start AOS but it doesn't feel right to me after all we've been through. This whole process is just frustration after frustration! Nothing ever goes according to the plan. And I guess the less people that can go the better for me since I don't want a big wedding at all! haha the good thing with being on the south hemisphere is that December is our summer vacations so my family has time off to go to the wedding, even if it's just close family. But a summer/fall outdoor wedding sounds just so much better than a winter one! And if you can get married later but have a proper celebration with everyone, just go for it too!

This process just frustrating and annoying! I was checking other petition sending to NVC quickly after approval but why finance petition delayed for 90 days?

I can't find any answers! USCIS and NVC both responding like a robot ... They committed to send our petition in 30 days (mentioned in approval notice) but who knows who's responsible for this delay!

Thousand of illegal Cross borders everyday and they have priority more than us!

Unbelievable...

I'm just tired, tired of this unfair process . I called USCIS and ask to talk to tier 2 agent and was told they will call me back in 30 days!!!

Yes we waited more than 17 months and everyone says 2,3 more months is not a big deal but, it is ! Believe me.

When we applied estimated time was 6 months and here we are still counting days after days...

Hi Guys,
On the 4th step, Who is the Greenbaum and how do I contact them? And what is an Embassy's P3? Thanks in advance.

Greenbaum is the VJ member that put this document together as far as I know. But I don’t think he’s active here anymore to send out P3s (this PDF guide is pretty old, it even says you should call NVC but they don’t take calls anymore). P3 is the Packet 3 that embassies send with the list of documents and procedures required for the beneficiary.

It’s really hard to go back to waiting. I’d say keep emailing NVC and calling USCIS if it makes you feel more active about it all. Some people are contacting their congress representatives as well about it because the petitions should be sent in 30 days like the notice, but now some people are reporting USCIS is telling them to wait 180 days, which is ridiculous seeing the I-129fs expire in 4 months. They probably just want people to stop calling and are giving unrealistic timelines. Unfortunately we’re a bit powerless right now again. Makes me absolutely sad to see you have been in this since December 21 and it’s still not over.

My fiancée lives in a very rural area where there are no house address and mails don't get deliver. What will happen if we don't get the packet in the mail from the US embassy to summon for an interview? What should I do 😟? Thank you.

I don't know if this is true for every embassy, but it seems that the Packet 3 and 4 are sent through email now, not physical mail. I would research your embassy to make sure – don't want to give you false info here. I know mine is through email.

Hi! I don't think I understand. Do what? Know it's through email or not? My embassy's website tells me is through email. I researched Ghana's website but can't find a lot of info there. I'd check with other people here on VJ that went through the same embassy.
