Hi Folks,

Does anyone have any recommendations on apps, books or websites that could help me learn Cebuano/Bisaya/Visaya?

Thanks!

Kawika

I took two years of Spanish back in high school...but also took two years of the Hawaiian language prior to that...and then of course made the wise decision to take a year of French in college...lol...I think I used all three languages during my oral exam back in college.

I forgot, google translate app has Cebuano also.

Is that what they are using for "Filipino" on the app? I figured it was just using Tagalog.

"Filipino" is Tagalog but google translate has "Cebuano" separately.  ChatGPT also claims it can fluently speak many different Philippine languages though my wife started arguing with it that some of its Waray words were not accurate and it was arguing back with her that there are different local dialects within even the same language and it was using the standard dialect.  So I could not judge how accurate ChatGPT is in Waray but it does seem to be able to carry on an intelligible argument with a Waray speaker.  I assume ChatGPT's Bisayan would be similar.

I must have missed that. I was just looking at it a day or two ago.

Here's what ChatGPT claims it can do.  Although I notice it omitted English.

If you know Spanish you will get by. At least 50% of the dialect is Spanish
