Ever flown through Brussels (BRU)?

Has anyone here ever flown through/into Brussels?

Ombeni picked up his visa today!!! I'm trying to make flight arrangements that are as simple as possible, since he has no experience making connecting flights! Based on the layout of the airport, it looks pretty straightforward: 2 different hallways of gates. In other words, nothing like JFK  (where he'll change planes again) or O'Hare  (where he'll end up eventually, hopefully).

Four hours in between flights should be enough for international connections, right? Even if you get totally lost?

I did, for my return trip from Chennai to Atlanta in January 2000; I was supposed to fly through Brussels on the outgoing journey as well, but Sabena had cancelled the flight I was supposed to take on 1999/12/24--without taking the care to get me into Chennai by 1999/12/26--so I argued till I got a Delta flight to Gatwick on 12/24, swapping to a Heathrow-Chennai flight on 12/25 (so I arrived in Chennai on 12/26--without the undesirable connexions through Mumbai).

The transit itself was simple, until I actually reached Atlanta--and found that Delta (codeshare for Sabena to US--it was a Delta aircraft used for this flight) had misplaced one of my bags!

IMO, the issue wasn't Brussels but Delta (it had misplaced the exact same bag failing to transfer it from Gatwick to Heathrow).

Yeah, you can't really blame the airport for the misplaced bag. Did they ever find it?

Last time I went to Tanzania, I was supposed to fly out of Milwaukee really early in the morning. Got there, we're fogged in. NO flights leaving. They cancel my flight to Newark and put me on a different airline's flight to Detroit (to Amsterdam to Kilimanjaro). So I go downstairs to pick up my bags to transfer them to the other airline, and they had already lost one of them! With no planes taking off or landing, my bag went missing. Luckily I had most of the stuff I *needed* in the bag that I had, but still!

So whatever, I get to Kili. Go to claim my other bag, and hey that one is gone too. !!! That one shows up a few days later; I had to run to make my connecting flight in Detroit, so my bag didn't make it that day. Probably a week later, I get a call from my mom who had gotten a call from Bradley Airport in Connecticut. They had found my bag. Hmmmmm. Nice going, Midwest. But eventually it got to me, and my peppermint bark and yogurt-covered granola bars were still edible. :)

I think there's a porn shop on the first level.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Yes, Delta found it and delivered it to my home about 10 days later
