Hello i want to say thank you to everyone that has helped me with all the advice during our K1 process. After 9 long months we finally recieved our visa on the 9th of February and entered the United States on the 9th of March (3 weeks ago).

On the 15th of March we made it official and got married here in Houston. I have our marriage certificate in order to send to INS. Well, my question is the following..... On her passport the K1 visa expires on the 8th of August. I have not mailed in the forms to apply for green card because of the cost. At the current moment I can not afford it. At least for another 2 weeks. The total for adjustment of status and working permit and so on comes out to about 600 dollars. I guess what i am trying to say is ....How long do I have to send in my paperwork? I know that I should do it as soon as possible, and I did not know if it would be ok to do so towards the end of April? I was not sure if there was a time limit or if I had until the expiration date on the passsport?

I appreciate all your help!

From the time the 90 days expires (on the I-94) until the day you get a receipt back from filing the I-485, she will be out of status. This could be risky if she tries to travel on a AP document if she accumulates too much out of status time.

Do the I-485 and do the others later when you got the money.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.
