my father is going to be my joint sponsor, and we are trying to get all of the supporting documents.

He receives a military pension, and social security.

would the social security statement be the Form SSA-1099 or the SSA-1042S ?

My dad isn't sure how to get the forms, and hes not good with computers.  Its possible that he has them and just doesn't know what they are.

can someone post instructions on how to get the VA and SS yearly benefits statement for 2023?  im assuming that my dad has an online SS account.

if he receives both,, he sends both as that is his yearly income

they probably are not taxed so he may not have to file tax returns, like me ,so he would need to get the letter from IRS

An IRS Verification of Nonfiling Letter (VNF) will provide proof from the IRS that there is no record of a filed tax form (1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ) for the year you have requested.

He still works part time, so he also has a w-2 and still files taxes.

ive been asking him to get the benefits statements for this year (2023), but he says hes not sure how.

Im assuming he has them, and just doesn't realize it.

i get a SS-1099 saying what my benefits will be each year (about October)  with the new raises in income and medicare Monthly

Is he under 60

The Social Security Administration used to mail workers annual statements that detailed their earnings and estimated future benefits. That tradition stopped in 2011. Today, paper statements are mailed only to individuals ages 60 and up who have not created an online account.Dec 9, 2019

Military retirement awards letter, VA awards letter, and Social Security benefit letters are all available on their respective web sites online.  He must create an account on each to download current copies.  He needs those letters to provide current income.

Google the instructions.  If Dad is not good with computers, you can do it, if you have the necessary information about him.  That information is probably in his head, so easy to get.

he is over 60.  ill ask him if he gets anything in the mail, or if he has an online account.

Im assuming the SS-1099 you get in October is for the same year, or is it for the following year?

I don't have the necessary information, but I will have a video chat with him and try to help him get it.

He does not need a 1099 for last year.  He needs the declaration letter for THIS year.  Download from socialsecurity.gov

You may need to set up his online account for him.  To complete his affidavit of support, you will need all his private information anyway.
