Hello Everyone, It has been a long time.

So I had brought my husband to the US on fiance visa in September of 2018, got married in November 2018. Applied for his green card, we interviewed together, he got his 2 year conditional green card. We applied for removal of conditions I-751 on May 29th, 2021. We recieved the notice about the green card being extended for another 48 months or so.

Since We had been married for 3 years - We also filed N-400 for US citizenship on November 5th, 2022.

For the I-751 - we got a notice that said January 12, 2023 Case Was Transferred And A New Office Has Jurisdiction

They scheduled an interview for N-400 in January 2023, to be held in March. But, in February, they cancelled the interview.

So far, no rescheduling of interview for N-400 and nothing regarding I-751.

What happens in these cases? I read someone's post that they get a Combo interview for both together?

Should I start calling USCIS or just wait?

I believe the extension of the 2 year green card expires in August 2023.

Please advise. Thank you.

If the I-485 approval date on your timeline is correct, his extension should extend the date on this Green Card until August 2025.  It is common to receive a combo interview.  I would certainly prepare for one.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

oh okay, Thank you both. I really appreciate it. I think I am wrong, I didn't look at the new notice that extended green card for another 48 months if I remember correctly. My husband is in India and has the notices with him, so I wasn't 100% sure about how long it has been extended.

You cannot extend the extension. Only the green card.

So if you originally had 24 months, and now 48 months extension, the card is only extended by 48 months from its expiration date.

Hi Guys,

so I looked at the notices again. We filed for removal of conditions on 05/21/2021 received the first notice of extension of 18 months on 05/29/2021. We received another notice on 10/27/21 which extended green card to 24 months from date of expiration.  Which means the green card expires on 08/02/2023. I tried to put in an inquiry online and got a message after submission that the case is within processing times. Now we have about 2 months and no communication from USCIS.

The card has been extended by 4 years.  You just need a new, updated extension letter from USCIS.  As I said, If the I-485 approval date on your timeline is correct, his extension should extend the date on this Green Card until August 2025.

Use the link for an e-request of missing mail to get your extension letter of 48 months. If that doesn't get you one try to speak to an online agent (Emma on USCIS website) or calling them and saying Infopass to get connected to a person. Do not leave the US after 08/02/2023 if you don't have the new extension letter in hands.

Hi Thank you so much. I went on the USCIS website as I was confused why everyone was saying green card should be extended till 2025. I saw the article. I guess we never received the letter of extension. Thank you, I will do that.

Writing this for you not to feel alone. A friend of mine who lives in Las Vegas filed N-400 with a pending I-751 from December 2021 in February this year. She was supposed to have a N-400 interview 3 weeks ago, but her local USCIS office called her the day before to inform about interview cancellation. An officer said the reason was that they didn't have her I-751 file. A few days later, her I-751 got transferred to NBC. She still hasn't heard from USCIS about a new interview date.

I can imagine how frustrating it is to be scheduled and then cancelled. I hope you will get a new interview date, soon! For the very least, you received a 48-month extension that is somewhat comforting while riding these unpredictable immigration waves.

Hi Thank you so much. I was able to use e request option of USCIS and told them we had never received the 48 month extension letter. we got a reschedule of interview letter. We also found the 48 months letter, my husband had misplaced it. Sadly, my husband's father is in the ICU intubated, and doctors have said he won't survive. My father-in-law had been battling cancer, and my husband had just returned like 2 weeks ago from India after spending time with his father. I called the number on the N-400 interview letter to reschedule his N-400 interview so he could go to India to be with his father. His interview was scheduled for July 12th and his dad basically had septic shock and is alive on ventilator only. The lady said she submitted a request of reschedule which may take up to 30 days for them to reschedule. She said he could travel if he has the extension letter. Any suggestions?
