hello, my name is Graciela
I entered the United States with a J-1 visa, duration of one year and I only have 3 months left until my visa expires.
A month ago I married my boyfriend, he is American, who is now my husband, I met him 3 years ago.
My program is in Arizona and he lives in Florida and now I am processing the status change papers to be able to stay here. Law 212 (E) does not apply to my visa, the two-year rule.
I would like to know if I have to notify USCIS if I change my residence in 3 months or do I simply process all the documents as if I lived with him?
I am very confused because if I say that I still live in Arizona and at 3 I move to Florida and I already handed over the documents to USCIS, I don't know if there are problems because of that.
Thank you!

Do not falsify information.  If at the time you file for AOS you are in AZ, then list your current address in AZ.  If you can, wait until you move in with him before submitting the I-485 package.

Not living with your husband is a red flag.  Knowing your husband before you applied for and entered on a student visa is another red flag.

There was a poster last month whose I-485 was denied because they knew their spouse before they applied for and entered on a student visa - I believe F1.

I recommend consulting an experienced immigration lawyer.

Either wait to file until you move in with your spouse or file as is stating truthfully that you’re in Arizona. I see no other option.

Well, our entire relationship has been at a distance for 3 years, we have seen each other 7 times already and I applied first for the visa since it was something through the university, after that he finished his university and he went to work in the United States, He did his university in the Dominican Republic because the parents live there.

Hi Graciela,

You're fine, you can move to Florida as long as you let USCIS know about it. I'm going trough the same process (came with a J1 and got married with my boyfriend) and every time I get a notification from USCIS, they say "make sure to notify us if you change your address".

I filed everything 7 months ago, also did an expedited application for work and travel visa but nothing yet. How is it going for you? I don't care about receiving the GC soon, I just want to be able to temporary travel (I miss home!!) and work.
