The F11 visa is the US Family Preference Visa category for siblings of US citizens. Unfortunately, the processing time for this visa category can be quite lengthy and may involve waiting for several years. The waiting time for an F11 visa depends on various factors, including the applicant's country of origin, the number of available visas, and the number of applicants in the queue ahead of you. Currently, the wait time for an F11 visa can range from several years to over a decade. The US Department of State releases a monthly Visa Bulletin that provides information on the availability of visas in each category. You can check the Visa Bulletin to see how long the wait time is for F11 visas based on your country of origin. It's important to note that the waiting time can be unpredictable and can change depending on various factors, so it's best to stay up to date with the latest information and remain patient throughout the process.

No, that's not right.  F4 is siblings.

Nothing wrong with OPs heading. ..but I am still waiting for him to post

1. His date of birth

2. Marriage date  for mom and stepfather

…since the priority date assigned to the petition shifted a few days.

Still at NVC stage!

You should send an inquiry to NVC, your age should have been frozen the date the petition was filed.

UPDATE:  NVC responded after I sent a public inquiry. Their response was copy and pasted from 2  previous responses I've had (i.e. Immigration laws and regulations do not allow us to process your petition until a visa is available.... when we can process your petition, we will send further instructions)

However the last line was something new: Currently, this case cannot be reviewed for applicability of the Child Status Protection Act (CSPA), as there is no visa number available according to this case's priority date and visa category.

I completely understand that if I am F11 I will have to wait (as the email says) BUT I disagree that I am in the F11 category. I think NVC have inputted the wrong priority date and therefore I am in the wrong category. Thoughts?

I sent another public inquiry saying as such.

Unless you were already over 21 before 19/08/2019, your case is still IR2 category.  Did you attach a copy of your birth certificate and the I-797 notice to your public inquiry request?  Also, did you specify that the request is to change your visa category to IR2, for which visa numbers are always available?  If your next inquiry does not get a positive response, it might be time to seek help from your USC step-parent's congressperson.

UPDATE: After submitting supporting evidence, I received a message this week from the NVC stating "The correspondence submitted is currently under review. An appropriate action will be taken once this review is completed." After some research / reading posts from people who got the same message, this review could take anywhere from 20 days to 6 months. I'm hoping my review is on the shorter end. Now we wait!

You have not answered with your DOB ( date of birth), mom’s date of marriage and filing date of I-130..

If all those line up, get your stepdad to contact his congressman for help…so you are not stuck waiting for NVC again.
Remember you will still need stepdad to complete the process, so do reconnect

  • 1 year later...

I live in the UK. My USC stepfather filed an I-130 petition for me back in 2019 when I was under 21. In March 2022, it was approved as unmarried child of USC with a priority date of 14/08/2019. My case was sent to the NVC. My attorney and step dad received the welcome letter from the NVC with login details which was sent in March 2022. I have only just now been sent that letter (thanks to my attorney) so have not logged into the portal for over a year. I am over 21 now. When I log in to NVC site, my case shows that the visa category is F11 (Unmarried daughter or child of USC) and the priority date has changed to 19/08/2019. This category has a roughly 5 year wait time which I thought I would avoid. My question is: is it possible for the NVC to move the USCIS priority date?? I didn't think it was.

Did you manage to sort this out? I’m in a similar position and I don’t know what to do
