Can you file a I-129F and marry the person while waiting?

Hello VJ Family,

I am coming to you guys with a very important question. I filed the I-129F for my fiance on May 22, 2007. Yet, I am still waiting for my NOA2. Since it's been about four months since I have last seen my husband to be, I decided to go and visit him.

Here's the question...

Would I jeopardize myself if I decided to marry him while I'm visiting him there. We both want to cement our union and want to make it official and permanent. If we get married and then he goes on the interview, do you think that it will jeopardize our case?

Please I need some replies and suggestions. I just want to be with him.... This waiting game is driving me crazy!! BUT...I want to be sensible.

NO then you would not be a fiancee would you. K-1 is for fiancee's. You would be abandoning the K-1 and be filing form I-130 for CR-1 and then I-129F to start a K-3 if that is what you want to do, and just be starting the whole process over again.

A legal marriage to your fiance will make your Fiance Visa useless, as neither of you would have the necessary status to use it.

You want to file a I-129F fiancee petition when you are OK with

a) getting married in the US and no other place.

b) waiting for the I-129F process to complete and bring your fiancee to the US

c) marrying within 90 days of you fiancee entering the US.

d) after marriage, adjusting status to that of a temporary permanent resident

e) and thereafter, adjusting to a permanent resident.

You can't be legally married when he gets a fiance visa or enters the US on said visa.

Once again a K-1 is a FIANCE(E) visa not s SPOUSE visa

If you abandon the K-1 now, you will have basically wasted the last few months of waiting. And not to mention CR-1 and K-3 visas usually tend to take longer to process. If you love each other so strongly, waiting out the rest of this K-1 won't hurt you. You're like halfway there now. Don't throw that away.

Well, I married, but I don't have proof of my marriage! if you don't have proof of your marriage you can file I-129f as a fiancé which is I did.. I married in sharia.. and i couldn’t married by that country law! and another point I had to make a quick decision because my fiancé she well have no family in state and she well be disappointed and depressed so I did weeding ceremony to make her happy while we were there....! Which I explain the situation in my I-129f files!

You can be married without evidence of proof of married by certain country and rules! you can be married and still not married by religions!

as muslim I am married my wife but it still it be a fiance , i cant proof that with any type of doc which we are married!

You would be making a huge mistake to marry after you have waited this long. Patience is a life journey, not just for a K-1 or anything else. My darling 18-year-old daughter died in my arms 5 years ago from an asthma attack (on Easter Sunday). I have to wait for my eternal trip to see her----i HAVE to be patient for this, so you can be patient for your K-1

Doesn’t matter! What is going to be? Deny my file for what type of reason? I don't have a proof of my marriage period! Which I write and notarize that by public notary they do understand and they are so professional with full of information about countries and religions!

as I am working with GOV I know what is going on, they are not dumb! as I said buddy if you dont have avidance write letter and notarize it and send it back!

I hate to be rude, but it just boggles the mind how many people have been recently asking whether they can marry prior to their K1 being approved. Isn't the point of filing for a K1 so that a couple is able to marry in the US? It says in the instructions that you both have to be free to marry within 90 days of the non-USC entering the States - isn't the intention of the visa clear enough?
