Still Waiting - K-1

Good evening Visa Journey people,

I have a quick question -

Recently I submitted the K1 visa with my fiancé from Colombia back on February 29th, 2023. I sent it to the Dallas with a cashier check, however, I still have not received a response.

What is the standard protocol for this? Considering it’s been 2 months with no response, should I be concerned? Should I wait patiently? Is there a number I can contact?

My fiancé and I would just like some peace mind know it’s been received at the very minimum.

Thanks.

1. I sent tracking through USPS with the envelope with all my visa items. It showed that it arrived in the Texas P.O.

2. I can walk in personally and check with my bank but I haven’t at this point.

My main concern is that I haven’t hear anything. I thought I would at least get a received email or a phone call by two months. Just hoping to get some input from people that have gone through the same or something similar.

Thank you again.

Thank you again.

You will not get a phone call from USCIS.

You will get a receipt notice (I-797 - also known as NOA-1) in paper form, via USPS.  Btw,  if you haven't already signed up for the USPS free informed delivery service, I highly recommend it.  The cashing of your check is also a good sign that the petition was accepted by the Texas Lockbox.

Then, there will be radio silence for approx 16.5 months until the petition is approved or denied, or an RFE is sent to you for more evidence.

Thank you for your response.

Do you have any idea of how long until I get a receipt notice (I-797)?

I submitted my K-1 visa application back at the end of February so it’s been roughly almost two months.

You should have received it by now.   I would say, call USCIS, but I’m not sure what the current down low is on getting a live human capable of helping.   Maybe others will chime in.

Call USCIS and prompt the automated message by saying “info pass” it should take you to a rep. You should have definitely received your NOA1 by now.
