The question explicitly asks for a yes or no. Please see details below.

I am looking at the CBP customs declaration form 6059B. It asks a question (#10)

---- The primary purpose of this trip is business? [ ] Yes    [ ] No

I am a LPR who was traveling outside the U.S. to my country of origin for about 36 days. I was off from work for about a week and was working remotely during the rest of the time. The purpose of my trip was to visit my parents. Even though my employer has office in my country of origin, I never visited those offices. I just worked remotely from my parents' house. What should be my answer to this question?

CBP is asking about your travel to the US, not to your home country. If you live in the US then your travel to the US isn't about business, so the answer is no.

So you answer no to ib a  form you are unlikely to be asked for.

I don't know... it seems some people are overthinking this...  This past September my son and I were in Thailand for him to meet his grandparents. We flew over with 3 large luggages of clothes for my inlaws and toys/snacks to donate to the school in my wife's town (total value +/- $800). We flew home with a luggage full of food and beauty products for my wife and her friends (total value +/- $300). I was not asked to declare anything  on arrival to either country, and if I was, I would have put in about as much description to my answer as I did above.

Food is entirely different: lots of restrictions of what you can & cannot bring back to the US (and most countries have restrictions on what kind of food you're allowed to bring e.g. bring back to the US cheese from France - no problem, but cured meat - absolutely not).

That said, I've never declared petty purchases like the ones described by OP.

I thought so too, but if you read the question #8 on 6059B before question #10, it says "countries visited on this trip prior to U.S. arrival", hence they seem to use "trip" to refer to your stay outside the U.S. It is rather confusing.

As a global entry member, I think this advice to perjure oneself to a federal officer is wild. I am out. Good luck OP.

i will leave you with one CBP officer’s view on LPRs
