Good Morning Visa Journey Team,

My cousin's daughter has been approved for her citizenship!

But now... we have questions

The Oath Ceremony once scheduled would probably be mailed in a separate notice, I'm sure.

what if the applicant never had a us visa?

(the applicant applied while outside of USA)

what is the next steps or what is to be expected?

N-600 is to get a certificate of citizenship for those who are US citizens.

Typically your cousin can file for a passport for the daughter using the evidence that was provided for the N600.

Oh ok so she doesn't do an oath then? How does she get her certificate?

her daughter im assuming would have to apply for her own passport since she's an adult. It's been overdue.

I'm confused.

On what basis did the child apply for citizenship? Marriage to a USC?

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

No.

Sorry I wasn't clear.

My cousin is a us citizen by birth. Her daughter however was born outside of USA. They applied for n-600 and was approved today.

It's been a process that should have been handled since she was a baby but it wasn't. Hence why I said it was long over due.

Her mom (my cousin) has always lived in USA. Her daughter always lived outside of USA

I am not sure if you guys did the correct thing.

She should have done CRBA up until 18 years or I-130 or N600K, not N600.

Which one did they do? N600K or N600?

How old is she?

Should have been N600K. I'm not sure how N600 was obtained but the hurdle now is, how's she gonna get to US for the oath? That's why I'm confident you applied for the wrong thing.

N600K would have sorted the "how do I get to US issue?" You understand?

There was a thread here last week about the same.

And to even be eligible for the free ride N600/N600K, she should have been under 18. That's why I mentioned I-130 too.

Additionally, for her to qualify for N600K, the parent and her should have been living together abroad, not separate. So, based on what you said, she doesn't even qualify for N600K due to age + physical custody (we've already ruled out N600).

So, I believe the correct path would have been for her parent to file an I-130 to get her to US. Then proceed from there.

@Mike E will be here shortly to confirm or fix any errors, if I made any.

Going by your original post, the only way I see that she got N600 is because she answered questions wrongly on the online application by stating she lives in the US. Now oath has been scheduled, how's she gonna attend? She cannot come to US without a proper visa and by the time that visa is granted, oath would have been long gone. And she's above 18 to qualify for N600 anyway.

And NO, N600 certificate cannot be mailed to you in lieu of you appearing at interview.

Based on your facts , they would NOT approve an N-600…so can you get a copy of the approval and upload here? Your cousin can text you a photo

I been tracking it so I know it's been approved. I actually told my cousin before she knew.

She's well into her 20s.

So two mistakes:

1. She wrongfully claimeed she's in the US to go the N600 route.

2. She lied about her age.
