My wife has been approved for an immigrant visa.  We live in Colombia.  We are having 2nd thoughts about migrating to the US.  Would itbe easy or hard to convert the CR1 to a tourist visa.  She owns an apt here in Colombia free and clear in her name.

She hasn't had the interview yet in Bogota nor an apppintment yett.

Any thoughts?

As above.

All you can do is pull out the petition

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Check the estimated wait time for a nonimmigrant visa interview appointment at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Note: Please check the individual Embassy or Consulate website to determine if your case is eligible for a waiver of the in-person interview.

Applicants scheduling visa appointments in a location different from their place of residence should check post websites for nonresident wait times.

Select a U.S. Embassy or Consulate:

Bogota

Nonimmigrant Visa Type Appointment Wait Time
Interview Required Students/Exchange Visitors (F, M, J) 57 Calendar Days
Interview Required Petition-Based Temporary Workers (H, L, O, P, Q) 7 Calendar Days

Interview Required Visitors (B1/B2) 681 Calendar Days
Interview Waiver Students/Exchange Visitors (F, M, J) 28 Calendar Days
Interview Waiver Petition-Based Temporary Workers (H, L, O, P, Q) 28 Calendar Days

She couldn't have been approved for an immigrant visa if her case was DQ-ed only last week and she hasn't even attended visa interview.  DQ is not visa approval.

If you are having seconds thoughts about moving to the US, your wife can just postpone her CR1 visa interview.  There is no such thing as converting CR1 to B2 visa.  She'll have to apply for a B2 visa through the normal process.

How has she been approved for an immigrant visa without having had an interview?  You must mean that just the petition was approved?

II am a 20 year Colombian resident.  My wife is the mother of a US citizen.  She is the sole owner of a condo here.

Thanks for the responses.

Yes, I meant the petition was approved.
