How do you know when your namechecks start? Is it shortly after your biometrics or what have ya? I'm just curious as to the lack of activity on my AOS, my case hasnt been transfered, i havent been scheduled for an interview, i'm just concerned as to whats going on. Are you informed on your case status online about namechecks etc?

Confused!!

You are not notified when namechecks begin, and normally are not told when they end either. Usually the greencard arriving is an indication that they have ended. If your AOS is at CSC you can try emailing them (the email address can be found in the CSC transfers thread somewhere in the latest few pages), be sure you include your A#, Case number, full name, bday, and detailed info of what you want to know. If it isn't at CSC, you could try an infopass appt to see what is up but usually people do not find out about namechecks unless they are lucky and get to speak to someone who will really try to help them.

Thanks, My AOS isnt at CSC nor have i heard anything about an interview, thats why i was a bit concerned, just going by other June filers who had their biometrics done AFTER i had mine done have have been scheduled for interviews, i think i am the only one left that had their biometrics done in June still to be either transfered to CSC or get an interview notice. :( Maybe they just forgot about me.

Thank you  I was starting to get worried, i'm due to have surgery August 15th and would take me around 6 weeks to get back to normal so an interview date within that timeline would been too much for me so i was stressing out. If i knew for sure (with USCIS thats not possible  ) would have taken some weight off my shoulders :( I'll keep my chin up and hang in there! thanks, maxnma :)

I would assume that she found out when her husband's namecheck started in some of the inquiries that were done, since their interview was over a year ago and name check usually starts well before the interview and they have tried actively pursuing the issue.

That is correct! It is hit or miss the amount of detailed responses you get to inquiries. It is safe to assume it is ordered within a week or 2 of your NOA as we have seen in the namecheck thread. There are rare occurrences in which the namecheck was forgotten to be ordered, and was ordered by the interviewing officer. Typical namecheck does not last more than 2-3 months, and much less go for a duration past 6 months.
