For some of you that Interact with me on SM, you know I have been on a 2.5 week vacation courtesy of the singles.

Most of you also know I am kinda in the middle on EV's.  I do think they are a fit for some consumers. They can make economical and environmental sense in some applications but are not the savior of the world yet.

For me to own one I would have to have way more money than I have now and want a toy.

Anyway I got back to work. On the 20th and I  preparing to walk the used car lot.. I have owned 3 mustangs and love the model. All v8s with some modifications.  Low and behold we have a mustang on the lot.

I get down to it and it is some crossover totaly electric abomination before God with Mustang badges on it. What was Ford thinking? It was as bad as the Budlight trans thing. I felt violated.  Why not just make a crossover EV and not pervert this American classic.

Back on topic, I agree with you about EVs.  EVs have a place, and they will work for some depending on individual situations, or desires.  My only issue is all the politics surrounding EVs and the false notion that these vehicles will solve a manufactured crisis.  EVs are not zero emission regardless of what some politician or manufacturer tells you.  The source of the electricity is of course the obvious source of emissions, but also there are a lot of VOCs that are emitted every time an EV goes through a charge discharge cycle.  Then there is the issue of how EVs will work for those living in multi family apartments.  Will apartment owners put in charging stations for all residents?  I doubt it.  I expect apartment owners will put in commercial stations and these will be at a premium for those needing to use them (I was talking to my co-worker the other day and we were opining as to how long our company was going to keep providing free charging for those driving EVs).  I can certainly see why Tesla provided free charging to buyers when they were starting out, but even they are trying to claw those vehicles back so-to-speak with incentives to get out from under paying for this.

In the end, we will most likely have some sort of mix unless governments get their wish of pushing people away from personal transportation.

It's true. I run my house. Vacuum cleaner, dishwasher, I run it all. In fact I am about to run to that right wing symbol of hate and bigotry and get her some of those delightfully divine mini chicken sandwiches and carry to her work for her breakfast

EVs just are not practical for so many and too expensive for many.  I would love to have a good one but it would have to be my second vehicle.  Ideally my first vehicle would be a hybrid.  Had a 2006 Honda Accord Hybrid from 2006 to 2012.  Loved it but the MPG was just ok.  Sold it to my sister when I left for the Philippines.  They kept it until 2016 and sold it to a friend, and then it got totaled in an accident.

I think the hybrid technology needs to be pushed more.  I think Toyota is doing that.

I completely agree, but unfortunately Toyota is starting to signal a push for EVs as well.

You are correct about Toyota.  The Sienna and Crown are only available in hybrid. Other models are heavy in hybrid and they are in demand. I sold a hybrid corolla yesterday sight unseen that is weeks out. 50 is mpg and about 26..not  bad

I haven't noticed any hybrid pickups but I suppose they may be available.

A couple of years back I made the long trip up to Byron GA, which I believe is not far from NB, to pick up a trailer.  Did that with my ICE SUV, and made the entire trip in one long day.  I can't imagine trying to do that with an EV.  So many stops to charge, and so much time.

Yes sir Byron is right next door. The new Tundra comes in a hybrid.  The Hybrid option does little for gas mileage.  Only about 1 mpg more.  It is all about torque and HP.

IT does 437 HP 583 torque.

I have the none hybrid ans it is 389 hp and 479 torque, plenty for me . I do get 22mpg on the expressway and about 17 around town
